Thanks a lot for this and the quick turnaround. The only two remaining issues for me are still playback capability and filename incrementation, but at least now we have a clear indication of what is going on.

One thing I miss from MRecorder, is a quicker "browse system" (just like I'm used to from windows).
As it is now everything is very slow (I have got a lot of partitions on my computer).
Can anything be done remedy this?
Moreover is there any documentation on how to use MRecorder (nothing meaningful comes up clicking on "?" in the top right corner).

Mads: Favourites
- see the botton button the file dialog?
There's not much to document really about MRecorder
.
Breeze: Playback capability probably won't happen, sorry. But filename incrementation - you mean like adding a number, increasing every time you enable recording?

Yes. Currently MRecorder just overwrites the file if you initiate a new recording without manually changing the file name. If you quickly want to accumulate various versions of a recording played live or rendered, for comparison or choice, and fail to change the name, you end up overwriting the same file. As you describe above would be an excellent fix; especially for improv, it would make it easy to throw several ideas down quickly with minimal intervention (BTW, this is my favored use for a utility like this, instantly allowing capture within many small quickly managed hosts). Thanks for considering!MeldaProduction wrote:...Breeze: But filename incrementation - you mean like adding a number, increasing every time you enable recording?

the "most versatile" plugins in this universe can't even playback something they recorded? well played...MeldaProduction wrote:Playback capability probably won't happen?

Well, no need for snark! I agree that it would be nice but if you think about it, it's not obviously that simple. Maybe just a button to open the file location in explorer/finder would be a quick-to-implement and useful option; you could then launch a player from there.frizzbee wrote:the "most versatile" plugins in this universe can't even playback something they recorded? well played...MeldaProduction wrote:Playback capability probably won't happen?
Consider how many plugins Vojtech has to manage, and how this one is free and far from cutting edge compared to so many other plugins that Melda is constantly improving and evolving. Consider that there are only 701280 hours (including leap years) in an 80-year lifespan... and that's if you're lucky and never sleep.
Lets be graceful about this.

I would gladly pay for a pro version of this!
So, here's my wish list with:
I much prefer using MRecorder than exporting in -any- daw. Especially if you use a daw that's loop based (live/bitwig). Then you need to arrange in order to export. Im not sure about others, but i start a lot of projects as i always like to start something new. Music is nothing i do for a living so i can afford doing that
But with all this starting new projects, i forget about the songs or what-could-be-songs. With MRecorder i can record and later go through what i've done lately and see if there's something i want to continue on.
It's also good if you want to upload sound examples on soundcloud or similar. For instance, something from MPowerSynth!! I remember that i did upload something and i used MRecorder for that.
I was actually going to your website to look for a pro version that i could buy
When there was none i found this thread
So, here's my wish list with:
- *** Synced recording with adjustable amount of bars or seconds (for recording perfect loops)
In live you have to freeze a track, copy the file to another audio track or something like that or you can route which may mess with what track is armed. This is when in Session view and when you want to record an instrument or audio with effects on.
*** Record on input with threshold (and possibly stop on threshold!)
Great when recording for a sampler
*** Trim silence
If not threshold for start and stop
*** Drag'n'drop out of it. Why? For samplers without sampling capability. Set record on threshold, play your note, trim silence and then drag the recording into the sampler.
*** Incremental recording with a few choices like 00n, 0n, n - 00n is good if you record many samples and use trim.
** Recorded waveform display so you can see if input was too low or too high
** Recording with start and end fading
When uploading a the start of a song or demonstration of some sort to soundcloud it's nice to have a little fade in and out! Especially if you forgot you set your amp to LOUD
*BLAM*
* If this is something hosts do, grab filename of project and tempo and then insert that in the filename.
* Stored filepath
As in a default path or last path (though i have to say that clicking the browse button and then have your favourite folders right there is pretty cool)
* Playback would be nice!

Imho, it could be great if Vojtech would come with a Melda Mlooper, some sort of hybrid between Live's looper, Mobius, TC Regen, and Angstrolooper, which could be used as a straightforward audio recorder (as it is now), but with some tempo-synced, multitracking, overdubbing features

Question regarding MRecorder - It seems like the GUI has to be visible for recording to work. I've bound record to a midi controller which is really really cool

Or just drag into your DAW - working great for me.Breeze wrote:Well, no need for snark! I agree that it would be nice but if you think about it, it's not obviously that simple. You can already drag out into your DAW, not sure if that would also work into a sampler plugin though. Maybe those that are host integrated like Live's it might work?Crackbaby wrote: *** Drag'n'drop out of it. Why? For samplers without sampling capability. Ok, folks, I'll check all these asap, a little busy at the moment, but don't worry, I'm not ignoring it
