How do you rate Ableton's effects?

Just starting to get into the Ablton fx. Most of them leave Protools stock's for dead. Their appearance mades them look quite basic but some of em particularly Corpus, vocoder and Grain delay appear quite flexible. The waveshaping/distortion type fx however seem to be much weaker than FL studio's.
Just wondering what other peoples views are on this subject in general - how they stack up against other effects such as 3rd party stuff izotope, fxpansion etc.

They're actually quite nice... And this is an opinion that has changed over the years, as when I first started with Live, I didn't like them at all. Mostly what's nice is the flexibility. Each effect is a one and done type effect, but chaining them is where they get interesting.

Also, I don't really compare in terms of "quality" so much as understanding that they offer something different. Picking and choosing when to use them is great. I know its a very general response, but that is my overall take on using all their effects.

There are a number of things I'd like to see changed but most of that has to do with workflow/interaction with the GUI of some.

Everything's spinning.

I hate Live's reverb. The rest of the effects are fine for the most part.

The Ableton effects are quite good. A lot of EDM guys that use it actually use a lot of the plugins in there. Most stock effects aren't going to stack up well against some of those third party stuff in my opinion. There's a reason plugins like Trash are $250. They sound great and have a ridiculous amount of features. But if you don't like Saturator and some of the other stuff then you'll have to just buy 3rd party stuff.

I agree that the reverb is not one of their best. It's usable, but it isn't the kind of reverb you would want to put up front in a mix.

Their effects have a very digital character to them, and I wish they were capable of something closer to the classic stomp box effects. They're good as digital approach goes though.

Overall no real complaints except the reverb.
Sweet child in time...

I kinda think Live's effects are more geared towards the live side of things than the production side. A lot of people rate them but apart from the EQ i tend to prefer using plugins. As mentioned the reverb ain't all that, i don't really like the chorus much either. Maybe its the interface i find limiting rather than the sound though.

So, OP, what do you think?

What about the Max ring modulators though. How do they compare to others?

Ive been trying to replicate the ring modulation on "Money for Nothing" (it cuts in at the off beat before the 4th and 5th chord at the end of the sequence). Even with Omnisphere's booster I still cant get enough grit and Maul's rig mod just evens it out too much.
Ableton is a lot closer but still doesn't seem to transform dramatically like that song thats 30 years old!
