No it isn't. I never had any instability. Your experience maybe different but it is not like waves at all. The only similarity is both can authorized to a usb drive.

With PA you can't move license back to cloud like Wave does, instead you get 3 co-current activations with option to de-authorize yourself.
That's what the word "similar" means - not same but like.

Played guitar with it, sounds good and seems no latency.

I only wished the level trim had more range (to compare the sound bypassed). And maybe if the knee was just a tiny bit more softer could be setuped easier.

I'd say it's actually pretty dissimilar to (and better than) Waves style protection. Not found it unstable in any way either.

Thank you for the free comp, PA!

Btw, never had any issue with their protection. Really like the fact that you can easily de-activate your machines yourself. You don't have to beg the dev to free some activations for you.

definitely, agree with you on their cp :tu: no annoying extra software (looking at ni, waves, and ilok in particular), authorizing is done within seconds, plus you can handle all of your licenses online in place.

thats the way to go in terms of cp in future imo. in most cases it just f***s up the user experience for those people who actually bought the software. and when i hear about people buying cubase or whatever piece of software that requires a dongle, but then actually use a cracked version, simply because its more convenient for them that speaks volumes to me...

Pretty nice little freebie! Nice job, bx .. thank you!

I prefer the full Opto comp. The mix knob, the more detailed settings and especially the filter make it a lot more actually useful to me. I like BX more and more with each release. What I especially like about this comp, firstly I like Opto comps, but secondly they've not based it on any one unit, but it's sort of a best all round design with some, according to them, unique characteristics that digital allows for. IMO that's the kind of design philosophy I want, and not just recreations of specific studio gear.

Anybody doing the $49 upgrade to the bx_opto compressor ($149 MSRP full product with meter, etc. from the currently free/$49 MSRP pedal version)?

It seems like a good deal for the PA-verse (Plugin Alliance).

That said, I think even most of their sale prices too high... but that's just me.

I have a few of their plug-ins, though I paid less than $10 a piece on average because of mostly cheaper items at ridiculous multi-discount deals.

For example, I got a 20% discount on the already cheap bx_tuner by ordering it along with the free opto pedal.

Does this upgrade offer have an end date?

Post

I was wondering that myself. Can't see any mention of one in the email that was sent.

Where do you see this upgrade offer? I have the freebie, but no mail with an upgrade code.

You should have it by now. I got it two days ago, send a mail to PA support and they'll sort
it out ! :)

So did anyone get the upgrade? Worth it?
Thanks for any feedback!

Post

I demoed it and in my opinion its definitely worth it for the extra control. Especially for $49.
