Is there a split clip feature in Tracktion? I have recorded a midi clip and want to cut it up into small sections and move them around. Is there a split clip function to do this? I can't seem to find it in the program or the documentation. :help: Thanks!

use the / keyboard shortcut.

Think there's also a button option from the context sensitive menu that appears at the bottom when you highlight the clip, from memory
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"

it is in the documentation...
Select the clip, position the cursor and press /

It's useful to bear in mind also when splitting clips that each part still contains all the content of the original. This may catch you off guard later on if you extend the length of the clip and discover more notes there. Tracktion has commands that delete content beyond the boundaries of a split clip that you might like to use in these situations. Also I find it a little awkward to position the spit point accurately in Tracktion. To get it precisely at the start of a bar, for example, I usually click the cursor somewhere near the split point I want, use the fast forward or rewind buttons to acurately move the cusor into position, then select the clip and split it. This technique works well for me; I'm sure others have equally efficient ways of working.

btw: meant to ask this for a long time.. When slitting audio parts.. does the split automatically snap to a zero crossing point in the audio? (it doesn't seem like it does) or is there a way to create 'micro' fadeout/ins automatically when you split audio?

Essentially im looking for an automatic way of avoiding clicks in split audio parts.

I think theres a zero-crossing setting somewhere but I cant remember at the moment. Each clip has a fade-in and fade out handle. Thats another way of avoiding clicks.

OT: Jules if you're reading this :o . Can we have the split clips function select everything to the right of the clip after splitting like it used to?

I know this has come up before...

The split clips function used to leave everything to the right selected....

BUT...

If you selected multiple clips to edit simultaneously, only the top most clip remained selected. This kind of, well, sucked. Try editing multiple stereo takes or all tracks in a song when doing an arrangement. Having to reselect all the tracks you want to edit after cutting once is a real drag.

Simply put, I agree but hope that all tracks being edited remain selected to the right of the cut point.

On that note, I'd also like to see the arrow resize function work for multiple clips. Presently, resizing just doesn't work. All clips selected except the one actually being clicked/resized end up being dragged out of sync. Try it.

Yeah that was the plan all along. But the way it is now I still have to reselect everything afterwards cuz if I split a group of tracks, I dont want to move everything. So I have to deselect, and select the clips, then move. Atleast before when I was splitting 1 clip it was useful. Now its not usefull with 1, or with several :ud:. No big deal tho. I just hope it makes the T2 list.
