OK then, what exactly *does* it do? I read the description, I know what it's *not* (it's not a drum replacement plug-in), but how does it actually "enhance"?
Enquiring minds want to know (before purchasing!)
(PS: I just made my first drum key yesterday, and drum track as well, so I know little to nada about drums in DAW!).

Yes, I agree Melda Plug-ins are pretty awesome. But downloading a trial to learn what a plug-in might do seems like cart before the horse, for me anyway. Hopefully someone can give a little more detail here at some pointsteve2KVR wrote:...use the free trial and see for yourself..."meldaplugs" are ridiculous is scope...the "free bundle" should get you started.../s~

I guess the plugin is some kind of follower of the original signal and "triggers" somehow samples above it? In the end it's most likely even more complex, hehe.

I won't tell you the details, company secret
. But there's a pretty good basic description in the documentation. Essentially it generates some sort of signal based on the sample and follows the level of the main input
.

OK, from one who wants to be a consumer of another Melda product ...
I know what it isn't ("It's not a drum replacement plug-in"), and I have read it is "really awesome on drums". I am wondering at this point ...
"What problem is Mdrumenhancer meant to solve"?
Thanks!

Hehe
it is meant to enhance the drums
. I really think all relevant is meantioned on the website & docs. Basically it lets you add spectral content that is actually not there yet possibly. Hence it lets you stop recording drums with gazillion microphones just to ensure snare drum has snares and bass drum has both punch and boom for example.

OK, very helpful, thanks!MeldaProduction wrote:Heheit is meant to enhance the drums

The reason I ask is I'm on the cusp of making a purchase to solve a problem I have. I use Jamstix to generate wonderful MIDI drum kit songs, but I am unhappy with the sound of the hits themselves. I am an inexperienced home hobbyist, so learning to mix a drum set well is unfortunately not something I have time for.
My solution was going to be to buy EZDrummer 2 for the nice quality of the sounds, and route my MIDI to there.
But maybe Mdrumenhancer would serve the same purpose? And as "EZ" also?
Your mentioning mic'ing up drum kits makes me think the answer is likely that this is not the intended use, or a necessarily good use, of Mdrumenhancer, but I thought I'd check just to be sure!

It all depends - with Jamstix and MDrumEnhancer you will be enhancing the Jamstix drums - but if you're not keen on those drums to start with then you may not get the results you want.
But, you could use Jamstix to drive EZDrummer (using Jamstix's MIDI output) and the EZDrummer drum sounds (there are a lot to choose from, and Expansion Packs) may be much more to your liking. And, of course, you could still use MDrumEnhancer after EZDrummer!
First off, I would try out the EZDrummer demo (there is one?) with Jamstix. And go from there

Yes, that was my plan until I heard about MDrumEnhancer (routing Jamstix MIDI to EZDrummer 2).
Agree with all your comments, except as far as I can tell, EZDrummer 2 only allows a stereo output, not separate audio tracks for the individual drums (comment by mod on their website to someone else's query). So, unless MDrumenhancer can do its thing on a stereo track, it won't be helpful to me in enhancing EZDrummer 2's drums.
Trying to get what info I can before downloading this and that ... that always seems to never go as smoothly as I would like, and I don't want to go down the troubleshooting rabbit hole more than I need to.
Thanks again!

Thanks for your answer, DarkStar!DarkStar wrote:Au contraire. mon ami:
That's interesting, because the Toontracks mod seemed to say the exact opposite:

If he is correct, one has to assume the functionality you pointed out in the original EZDrummer was removed in EZDrummer 2.EZdrummer 2 is only able bounce a stereo mix. For full multi-channel bounce you will need Superior 2.
My guess is, based on EZDrummer 2 user comments and reviews, that he made a mistake on re: his own product!
[EDIT: A different mod clarified at the Toontrack site - inability to bounce anything but a stereo track as described by them was meant to refer only to using EZDrummer 2 in "stand alone mode", was not meant to apply to using with a DAW, at least as I understand his clarifying post.]
