Any MXXX Users Using Cubase?

I've been having a lot of incidents lately where Cubase crashes upon exiting Cubase. The common element *may* be that I've got an instance of MXXX in the project that's being closed upon exit. I've seen this happen with both Cubase 7.5 and 8. Anyone else out there experiencing similar behavior?
Obviously, this isn't as big a problem as Cubase crashing when in the middle of doing something, so I haven't made it a priority to try to pin down what's to blame. But it still requires a reboot of the DAW to get my drivers back to being happy and working if I want to work on something else after exiting Cubase.

Since theres no responses yet; You could quickly determine if its MXXX by reloading the cubase project that crashes on exit and remove MXXX right before you exit.
Removing the plugin before exit should be less time consuming than crashing / rebooting daw to get drivers back (that is if MXXX is the actual problem).
Good luck.

Yes, there's certainly a more rigorous approach I could try to pinpoint the problem cause, but I thought I'd first do this the easier way and ask if anyone else was experiencing the same. I haven't yet established that there's a reproducible way to force the crash.
I probably should also request that Cubase produce a dump and send that to Steinberg tech support, which isn't something I've bothered with in the past.
By the way, for any late viewers of this thread, I'm a PC, using W7 64-bit and Cubase 64-bit.

Yeah sorry, i wasnt trying imply that you should do tons of testing. I was just trying to think of the simplest, least effort approach to do two things; 1. See if its MXXX, 2. Save you some time restarting daw if it turned out to be MXXX.dmbaer wrote:...I haven't made it a priority... ...certainly a more rigorous approach...
No first hand experience on cubase with mxxx, but in the other daws ive used it in i havent experienced any crash on exits. More of an inconvenience than anything else for you, but i hope you get it sorted soon.

I instantiated MXXX (latest version) in Cubase 8.0.20 on OSX 10.10.4 just now and shut the program – it shut down normally. I haven't noticed any odd behaviour with the Melda stuff in Cubase but haven't had a chance to do a lot with MXXX recently.
I did have problems with Cubase not shutting down gracefully in an older version of 8 under any circumstances, but that seems to have gone now with the latest update.

I have crashes of Cubase on exit every other time, but this is a common problem, it's been there since many versions, many users report the problem, and it can have many different reasons, I guess it is always something about the interaction of Cubase, drivers, and plugins. Difficult to spot exactly, the Steinberg guys should definitley research this but apparently they don't.

Thanks for the responses. When I have time, hopefully in the near future, I will research this a bit more comprehensively and report back if anything develops. I will add one thing: I wasn't just instantiating MXXX. I was doing preset development and giving MXXX a thorough workout. I normally do not see Cubase crashes on exit (although I'm aware that others experience this with some frequency), so when the exit-crashes started about the same time I starting using MXXX, it was an obvious thing to be suspicious of. But like I said, if I find out anything definitive, I'll certainly report it here.

Interesting! I actually had some crashes on exit with Cubase myself, but I thought it's the dumbass M-Audio interface driver... Perhaps not! I'll check it out! If you find some important news about this, don't hesitate to let me know!

I finally had time yesterday to set up some controlled testing hoping to find a repeatable crash-on-exit scenario. Created a new project with an audio track, loaded MXXX, created a simple preset including assigning an MP, saved it and exited Cubase. No crashes in either Cubase 7.5 or 8 when exiting Cubase.

I didn't have any recently either. It's quite possible it was some hidden thing that was solved, which manifested itself like this despite it wasn't related to exiting... We'll see
.
