Why doesn't Trash 2 get much love at this price ?

Because it's bloated with options and pages/submenus. One of the main reasons effects like Ohmicide, Devastor and Permut8 are so popular is that they can do a lot in a single layout, it's all right in front of you like hardware.

Thing is, not everyone sifts through every post here. Trash2 is one sale, so one does a google search and comes to KVR, there is a big Trash2 thread. Its in this thread where the person doing the research gets some new insights. It's important that the negative is also represented IMO because it might be the only thread one finds. That is why you look at forums, to find people's different experiences.
IMO Trash2 has received way more praise here than negative comments, which are mainly against Izotope anyway, and not the plugin. I don't think it's hate anyway, it's not like we're talking about personalities here, it's just users thoughts on products and companies.

I use Melda MBand-Distortion, RP-Distortion and somehow Sugarbytes WOW2 can be very nasty too.
And then there is stuff from IK Multimedia and NI Komplete.
For Saturation there's SDRR and Satin.
So basically it's the same reason as with Echoboy:
There's no need. however, i think trash is a great plug In.

Some points to answer the thread question:
1. In general, Trash2 upgrade was a minor dissapointment. Trash1 was ahead its time, ver2 implementation was poorish. UI too busy, too many parameters which have just minor effect to the sound.
2. Modulation sucks. Well-implemented it could be REALLY great in distortion- e.g. with delay parameter modulation.
3. Convolution presets are poor, even with the expansions.
4. Delay too limited. E.g. no different delay types. Once we have seen what the digital delay COULD be today (check some of the 2014-2015 releases), Trash2 delay is "modest".
5. No global wet-dry constant setting, when you browse the presets, you always get 100 % wet output. In the distortion module this kills your ears, nerves and creativity. ( Take e.g. Walhalla, even its reverb have constant mix setting).
Saying all the above, Trash2 complements well-ish e.g. the Fabfilter Saturn but COULD be waayyy better. I believe/hope iZotope puts some real effort for the Trash3, is innovative enough.

You´re basically stuck with a pretty expensive software subscription that you will have to pay updates for regularly. Most consumers don´t think ahead, I guess, but again others would want to know if the company you invest your money in for the long haul is worth it. My longterm experience with Izotope says it is not.
Ive got plugins I bought over 10 years ago, Ive used them on at least 3 Windows versions and they work fine, I fully expect them to run just the same under Windows 10.

Three plugins that sound great but, personally I can't stand the GUI of any of them. I use Trash2 somewhere on pretty much every project. Most of the the factory presets are a bit much for me but I find the Classic Textures expansion always has something I can work with.

+1. But not just Trash, most iZotope stuff is like that.
