KXStudio on top of KDE Mint 17 here.

Getting an "Invalid or corrupted key-file..." error no matter what I try.
Drag and drop, command line, Open With... Tried downloading the key from multiple browsers... Tried capitalizing the Machine ID 'cause why not?... Still nothin'.

Anybody got any suggestions?

I have just registered T6 under Arch Linux.

Online registration still seems to be broke but registering an 'offline' copy worked via drag n' drop for me. I use the Dolphin FM under the Cinnamon desktop. That's a bit of a hybrid setup and it worked fine.

You should only ever copy/paste the machine ID when registering. Have you tried drag n' dropping with a different file managers - Dolphin, Thunar, files, nautilus?

Post

Ohhhh, ok, I'd been trying this with version 5.4.2 that I just got a couple days ago, had no idea 6 was available now. Registered fine via offline/drag+drop. Thanks!

After several attempts managed to register for V5+V6 on the website. Now finding it impossible to load the licence in the program. Tried web-based registration, drag-n-drop offline licence, load offline licence from command line -- nothing works. Using kxstudio 14.04 with KDE window manager/Dolphin file manager. Any other ideas?

If you only just registered on the website try opening the .tracktionkey in a text editor and make sure there's actually a key in there. The first few times I downloaded the key file it was a text file that said "Not a valid Tracktion key...".

Post

Thanks for the suggestion but that is not the problem, the key looks OK to me (i.e. contains my name, computer name, etc). Actually my machine number is a little unclear as it contains either a "0" or an "O" and I've gotten keys for both versions but neither works.

Post

You didn't just copy / paste the machine number?
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"

Post

Well, Xwindows copy/paste does not work (with middle mouse button), but Ctrl-C did work, and then I saw I had missed a digit in my original attempt. Got a new key and this time it worked (with command line option). Sorry for the noise....

Hi kobraaji!

I've not tried T4 under Linux yet but I will do soon so I can update the FAQ which currently doesn't mention it.

I expect the machine ID is listed under the About window as in T5 and 6?
