Zebra patch never sounds the same when recreated

Hey all, new here, looks like a nice group.
I have a problem about Zebra that has me perplexed.
I like to recreated Zebra patches, in order to learn how to create different sounds. I will open a separate instance of zebra synth, and copy over all the parameters.
Problem is, it never sounds the same. The one I recreated sounds...wimpy. Missing umph, and shine. It's nothing like the original patch.
Am I missing something?

The only logical explanation is that you haven't fully recreated the patch structure. Check if you have properly set all envelopes, LFOS, MSEGs, check the Matrix tab, look what's goin on in the oscillator section in the original patch.
You may upload your patches and tell us what you tried to recreate

You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Zebra patches can be incredibly complex and it is easy to miss parameter settings especially with all the "hidden" controls. I'm 99.9% sure that you've simply missed things. And with some patches, that's easy to do.
Also, the order in which you have modules stringed together matters. Are all the routings exactly as they are in the original patch? This is usually the biggest culprit.
And of course the way to verify this is simply to open up two instances of Zebra. Load the same patch in each instance. If they sound the same, then the problem is you, not the patch. If they sound different, then something is very wrong somewhere in your system that I can't even begin to explain. But I seriously doubt you'll find that to be the case.

Make sure you check the FX section and that you have all the busses right.nmarnson wrote:Well, I definitely went through every possible parameter, making sure they are exactly the same. I gotta go through it again, must haved missed something.
Make sure you have the right wave forms selected and if there is any wavetable modulation that those settings are exact. Also make sure the filter modes are exact.
Zebra is a ridiculously complex synth. It is just as ridiculously easy to miss something.

It might be the "2.3 compatibility mode".nmarnson wrote:Am I missing something?
From version 2.5 we replaced some algorithms (mostly filters) for more distortion, better tuning, more homogenous volumes. Right-clicking the main value display however let's one choose to run either the 2.5 ones or the older ones. When set to 2.3 compatibility, a faint "2.3" drawn into the background of the value display.
Now, if you're patch uses the older algorithms… either adjust volumes (new algors are often softer), or simply switch modes

Hehe - Urs beated me.
My first thought was also 2.3 compatibility mode.
