somepresets seem to be listed twice.. any ideas

as it says really, some,but not all presets seem to be listed twice and the second one in the prests list will not load. on version 2.6.4.2

any ideas on how to get rid of this annoying problem.

I'm going to guess that somewhere along the way you had to rename and copy folders because of crashes, problems saving or whatever. What's happened is that you have to synthmasterpresets.xml files. One in the old folder and one in the new folder. Delete the one in old folder (make a backup of it first) and you should be okay.

I just had the same problem when my presets stopped saving (again, the 2nd time in a week) and I had to rename my Synthmaster folder in my documents. In doing this I forgot about the old xml file and had duplicate presets in the sub folder that I had just saved a preset for.

What you want to do is make sure that the most current xml file is in your Synthmaster folder.

This should fix it. As to what causes it, have no idea.

Did you install both 32bit and 64bit versions on Windows?

I am going to place the data files in a single location starting in v3.0, this is causing real confusion.

I then upgraded to Synthmaster

I really dont understand if SM didnt clean things up in this upgrading and I am not clear about how the folders should look like

I have one Synthmaster folder under my documents, I have a also have a KV331 audio folder under C:\Program files\vstplugins\KV331 Audio

I find two synthmasterpresets.xml files:

One in the folder under my documents and one in the KV331 Audio folder. Which one should I delete??

Had the same problem. Easy solution.

Back up your preset banks into one folder.

Unsintall sm and reinstall.

Check any duplicate in the folders (program and my documents, sorry cant recall the specific folder names at this time) that correspond to the preset banks.

I think it was C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Documents\SynthMaster\Presets

Copy any of the non reinstalled presets to the above location.

Solved it for me but please backup before unsintalling deleting.

I believe if you reinstall with the mydocuments presets still in place they will remain there, so any duplicates will show up again.
