At least they tell you which ones are actually on discount right now and have some sort of guide price. This was just "come here, get a good price on something maybe". As I've written above - if dealers start getting the idea that's OK every week or every day, it's sayonara Bargains Thread.jsp1979 wrote:I'll admit that I don't get the issue here. If you want to know the actual prices at AudioDeluxe (for example), you have to create an account, log-in, and then put the item in your cart.
JRR Shop's blowout page is the same way. Plugindiscounts is also the same. Uncle E advertises in the bargain thread often and no prices are mentioned.
How is this new one any different?

If you head over to ebay, then you'll see lots of people willing right this minute to pay lots of money for those units and (presumably) the sounds.Hans25 wrote:Yes then. Like a 1 Gigahertz scientific computer in 1995 was 1 million dollars. But now??jsp1979 wrote:They would if they were stored in a hardware unit.
I'm not saying they're equivalent, but if you want the sounds from a unit that costs $600 used and can't afford that, then you might pay $150 for the sounds.
In reality, it was just meant to be an offhand comment.

To be fair, that's not what you originally said to the guy. You complained about having to make an account and log-in to see prices. Other companies force the same sort of policy. I'm more on board with the thought you expressed here that specific items should be listed.Gamma-UT wrote: At least they tell you which ones are actually on discount right now and have some sort of guide price. I don't want to see the Bargains Thread misused either, but it seemed like your initial complaint about it was pretty arbitrary. Maybe the company can open a Marketplace thread to let people know of their existence? That might be a better approach.

No, it's fine that you post it of course. Thank you for that!Numanoid wrote:So I shouldn't have posted info about it you mean?murnau wrote:i think you got my post wrong. As you already said by yourself the regular price should be $149. It's just not a bargain with that price.
I think hardly this is the only product that is overpriced out there.
Everybody have to decide if it's worth the price. In my eyes or Hans obviously not but that's only the own opinion.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Isn't it? Maybe it wasn't phrased clearly enough.jsp1979 wrote:

I certainly didn't mean that although it might have come across that way.jsp1979 wrote: You complained about having to make an account and log-in to see prices. Other companies force the same sort of policy. I'm more on board with the thought you expressed here that specific items should be listed.
Seems fine to me. That's what WavesUniverse guy does.jsp1979 wrote:Maybe the company can open a Marketplace thread to let people know of their existence? That might be a better approach.

Gamma-UT,
The whole point of the post was the unusual fact that the majority of Waves products are on sale now.
Not a particular one, MOST of them. Re-read the post.
And that's why I linked to the whole Waves page.
When it's time to announce a specific one, I'll do that. But today it's almost all of them.

Nope.Gribs wrote:Aren't Waves products always on sale?
For example: Gold (and others) are currently not on sale.
Waves make Monthly and Bi-monthly special sales,
in addition to weekends and "One-Days".
A select list of products is being chosen on each announcement.

I believe that's the right approach. ThankseveryPlugin.com wrote:Gamma-UT,

It is strange indeed. Maybe they think that their product is like a luxury good that actually get's more interesting when the price is raised because it makes it more exclusivemurnau wrote:I laughed my ass off reading this "bargain" mate, thought the same lik you: Must be some kind of joke which i simply don't understand.Hans25 wrote:Is this a joke? Get the product or don't. Looking at all the fuss you make about this price, you really want it.

I think post is fine and actually I find the product itself interesting. I would be happy to purchase it but not for that price. And the fact that it's the original samples/waveforms doesn't justify the price in my opinion. From what I have seen other places for old samples like this, a price of $20-$50 would be more realistic.murnau wrote:No, it's fine that you post it of course. Those sound modules were top of the pop at that time - but things have just changed and the market has become huge and the possibilities almost endless. It would be nice to have those sound modules for a nostalgic 90s retro sound but the price has to be adjusted then.
