Hi. I'm fairly new to audio editing with a full featured DAW. T6 is my first. Win 8.1, T6 64-bit. I have successfully purchased, downloaded, and installed some plugins (after a few truly miserable hours of attempts). Always a struggle with "...appear to be ... failed to load..." message that names the new plugins. The most recent two are REZ3 and Scratch it. Whether done outside Tracktion or from the Marketplace tab the results are the same. With some others I had to "initialize" or "authorize" them by running them standalone first, but with these two that doesn't seem to be an option.
There are dozens of posts saying that the installation will be successful, but mine have been a struggle every time. Is there a succinct guide or series of steps for fixing this problem with new plugins when the normal methods fail in this way?

You say youve installed the 64-bit version of Tracktion 6. Having had a look at the website for the makers of REZ3 and Scratch It, both plugins appear to be 32-bit plugins, as per the following information on both product pages.BuPhilOh wrote:Hi. Plugins need to 'match' the host when it comes to being 32-bit or 64-bit. There is a type of software called a 'wrapper' or 'bridge' which can create 'proxy' 64-bit versions of 32-bit plugins(*) and some hosts have this facility built-in. Tracktion isnt one of these, though, so the solution would be to use the 3rd-party bridge called jbridge, as indicated.Host: VST compatible 32 bit ( 64 bit when using j bridge)
(* or proxy 32-bit version of 64-bit plugins)
To use jbridge, if you want to go down that route, you ideally want to ensure your 64-bit plugins and 32-bit plugins are in separate directories; 64-bit proxies for 32-bit plugins should be created in your 64-bit plugin directory. Mixing that up will make things somewhat confusing.
Some people will suggest that bridged plugins are slower or more unstable. Ive never found that to be a significant issue myself, but its worthwhile remembering.

Thank you, Whyterabbyt. From the Tracktion marketplace I had a choice of 32-bit or 64-bit download. By choosing 64-bit I thought I was home free. I'll dig deeper. Thank you for the background on bridges, I was unaware and I'm sure it will be helpful now and going forward.

I just use the 32 bit as I have no real "need" for 64 bit. I tried both but have too many legacy stuff that I use. To me the whole "have to have 64 bit" is a bit of a marketing gimmick.

you can install and run the 32bit version of tracktion in your 64bit windows.
this way it is possible to run 32bit plugins. maybe it works better for you.
