Hi MeldaFolks !

I'm coming to you this monday morning because I'd like to know how such a processor is able to handle the following specific task, as a mastering tool...

i'm on a work to restore and master old instrumental i've made with a 4 track cassette device during early eighties and a specific issue i'm currently dealing with is to enhance a bass line with a staccato/percussive instrument on the same track (kalimba),but it's getting tricky to give weight to the bass line without inducing artificial undesired low-end to the attack of the tuned percussion,

So i though that a narrow banded transient shaper could be very helpful and effective to soften the sharp attack without audibly affecting the bass line who's natural enveloppe stays anyway rather soft in comparison

In summary the idea is, after a low-end enhancement process (eventually before !) to soften the attack of a sharp tuned percussion as a sanza/kalimba without affecting a bass line in a same bandwidth

And of course, without affecting the overall stereo mix that hopefully shouldn't be a big pain considering that all other instruments and sounding effects doesn't have their fundamentals or higher energy on that peculiar bandwidth

:)

Thanks in advance, will all my respect !

Hi Alexandre,

well, I'd need the actual audio :), but generally your idea seems just logical ;). In your case it might be possible that MMultiBandDynamics could be used as well, hard to say without the actual audio.

well...why not !

this is one of the actual state of the track after passing through some of the zynaptic processors that are amazing tools but need much practice for relevant handling (being a bit too dazzled yet !! ), at my home-studist level :

As you may notice, both instrument (both introduced at the beginning) are of different stereo locations and spreading, so i assume that a mid/side separation of such kind of process could be effective, though i'm a bit dubious because the oldness of the original tapes (chrome or metal cassettes on a Teac/Tascam 4 track cassette of early eighties, very likely the first one that went to the market at these times) ...made the center location of the source somehow erratic !

I played a little time with the demo ...and experienced that this isn't such an obvious task,at least for me and wondering if it better be done manually with an analysis/resynthesis tool like isotope RX or Ircam Audioscuplt

Still i hope it could be done in real-time with an appropriate tool...

Well, to be honest, so far I don't see a clear statement about what you actually want :D. Anyway the audio quality is pretty horrible, so it's probably going to be quite a pain to get something reasonable from it. I usually use MSpectralDynamics for this kind of stuff.
