Unfortunately we don't have any news at this time to offer on Omisphere 2. We hope to answer this question very soon though.

Well I will also put in my request to make it installable as well. The install is long and requires a web connection to your account and they even offer a USB install add on. Really need to put this on my Receptor. I imagine it's going to take a while to install since it took forever on my desktop machine. Too bad you couldn't just copy the installed Steam folder on the Receptor and install, but I'm not that daring to try it.
Thanks,
Dirk

As a Receptor 2 owner, I have to say that I am disappointed with Muse's lack of support for this instrument. Whilst I realise that they need to give priority to the newer models, what about some appreciation of loyalty for people like myself, who have owned a Receptor for over 10 years, and have no desire to upgrade to one of the newer models ?
To follow on from this thread, the Musings newsletter issued on 4th May stated : " Omnisphere 2 has just been released and as soon as we receive a copy we will report back on compatibility. We expect it will run fine based on the system requirements. Please watch our Facebook page for the latest news and information".
This was over two months ago - there is nothing on the Facebook page and there have been no updates elsewhere. Nick's reply below was on 1st May - he has still not provided an "answer" to the query.
This is completely unacceptable. Omnisphere is a major and highly popular plugin, and myself and many other Receptor users would like to be able to use the new version; however, I am not going to pay for the upgrade without knowing if it will run on Receptor 2.
This is not the first time that I have had to post on this forum about Muse's poor history of following up queries from users and "getting things done". I believe that concentrating on newer products to the exclusion of support for older models is a flawed strategy, and has basically destroyed any goodwill that exists between the company and longstanding users such as myself. I have absolutely no intention of ever buying any further products from Muse such as a VIP, TRIO, and QU4TTRO, or any future system upgrades, and I am sure a number of other users feel the same way.
Would anyone else care to comment ?
Peter

It wouldn't hurt to see more frequent, more widely visible communication from Muse on the status of popular plug-ins.
Still, two months is hardly an eternity... so, hang in there? It JUST hit the shelves, and presumably Muse didn't have "beta" access, so their work on an official installer began when they got their copy. I'd rather they get it right than right-out-the-door.
FWIW I bought a Receptor based on what it could run at the time, which was a lot of what I enjoyed. I can often run newer stuff reasonably well. I was never under the impression my unit would run everything.

That's absolutely true. Regardless of whether it is stories of success or failure it's good to hear the current statuses.hopkihc wrote:It wouldn't hurt to see more frequent, more widely visible communication from Muse on the status of popular plug-ins.
THIS. I bought a rev. A in 2006 (I still have it), I never expected to be able to add anything new to it. That said, IMHO Muse ought to be aware of the large numbers of users wanting to use something like O2 as soon as possible. I believe that a VIP with O2 installed would sell a LOT.hopkihc wrote:FWIW I bought a Receptor based on what it could run at the time

Believe me, we want to support Omnisphere 2. As soon as it was announced we asked for an NFR so we could make the installer. In fact, it might just install using their normal installer, but we would like to test it before we make the announcement that it is officially supported. That was months ago. Not a week goes by where we don't ask for a copy to test.
It might help if they heard from their customers directly. We are ready and willing to create the installer and get it officially supported, but since you are both our customers and theirs, it never hurts for you to request that they support Receptor as soon as possible.

Ok Bryan,
as I stated in my other thread about NI Komplete 10, perhaps all of us that want to move forward with Receptor should put in a request to Spectrasonics for their support as well. Well according to their post here on KVR, they're hiring, so that has to say something about the success of Omnisphere 2. Which is so working itself into my writing/recording process it's turning out to be integral for my needs.
Thanks,
Dirk

I have sent an email to Spectrasonics today, on behalf of Receptor / Omnisphere 1 users, asking them to make contact with Muse Research and provide them with whatever they need to test the installer. I now await their confirmation that they are going to do this !

Further to my post below, I have now received a response from Spectrasonics :
"We are working as quickly as possible to get all of the NFR requests we've had for Omnisphere 2, and we'll get those distributed as best we can. We have Muse on the top of the list for those NFRs."
We now await developments. Could someone from Muse Research perhaps contact Spectrasonics to get a timescale for when the NFR requests will be distributed, and then when the testing of the installers is expected to be completed ?
Thanks

Just FYI… our former CEO who also happens to run KVR is letting us try it with his copy. There are some issues that will need to be resolved, but it does work and make sound.
Just thought you should know that we ARE working on it.

Here is where we are at: the plugin IS WORKING on Receptor, which is great news. The bad news is that we have discovered a bug where the sample database gets re-indexed after calling up a presets using FXPs, which is probably pretty uncommon for people using it in a studio. There is also an issue with copying and pasting the authorization code into our interface, which is really odd.
You can open up the interface, select presets, save presets, recall presets, but when you go to re-open the interface it triggers a re-indexing which takes over 3 minutes before the interface will open up.
We've notified Spectrasonics about this, they are apparently going to work on it. There is also an issue with authorizing it, which we also believe to be a bug, so we are working on that as well with them.
Hopefully it won't be too much longer!
Thanks for your patience!
