MEnvelopeShaper

I often find that i ONLY want to control the volume of a sound using an envelope modulator. I can totally do this in all Melda plugins with modulators and an output gain control, using the envelope modulator type, but I would love to have a custom tool specifically designed for this purpose. That way i dont need to open a needless plugin only to modulate the output, it seems like a waste for basic enveloped volume control.
My preference would be a plugin that contains a customized control panel that essentially contains the envelope modulator panel all open and ready to rock, plus maybe some enhanced controls on top of the standard envelope.
I'm sure Vojtech would say 'just use MDynamics' or one of the other plugs, but i do feel there is a gap for a fully featured enveloper plug that is specifically built for this purpose only. I personally use it for fine tuning sound effect envelopes, but i imagine people would find it useful for drums and other areas too.
Anyone else?

Well, i'm specifically talking about the envelope in the modulators, so your standard ADSR type envelope, not the cyclic modulator.

Hehe vectorwarrior I'm afraid you were right about my answer
. Why making a dedicated tool for something you can do with pretty much any of the plugins?

Yeah, i figured. It's just a pain to have to set up and keep switching between the main window and the modulator window... if you made a single plug in specifically for this, you could design the user interface specifically for this purpose and keep everything on the main window.
I can dream
Ha ha, I also know there's probably more important things lined up.

Well, you can design a preset in MXXX

Ha ha, okay, done.
It would still work better if you could see the ADSR graph and threshold detection waveform. But it works good enough
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I think the follower window is the perfect design already, I would also strongly vote for making an own plugin out of it. Having all those settings AND the detector level in realtime on one screen would be killer and outbeat every other envelope shaper plugin on the market I know of.
If you design it in MXXX, you loose the valuable information from the realtime graphics display. If you use any other Melda plugin to do it, I agree it feels a little odd.
Also you would have to remember which plugin you "abused" as envelope follower to find your designated presets there.

Well, I'll add it as low priority, but quite frankly there are way too many more interesting ideas than making something that already exists. And in fact MXXX is there exactly for this. I know the Melda visualisation is missing, but the sound is important

A lot of the dance music makers use this for quick sidechain ducking. XFer Records LFO tool and Cableguys VolumeShaper to name 2. They are very popular even though way less powerful than a Melda equivalent would be. When they find out the Melda version is free!

Those are not envelope shapers but advanced tremolos (a bit like MTremolo, though that is even much more advanced).jmg8 wrote:A lot of the dance music makers use this for quick sidechain ducking. That is what all the discussion here is about
Everything is in place already (you can do this with any Melda plugin featuring modulators), but a dedicated plugin could contain all important settings including graphic representation in one window, which currently is not the case.

Yeah, i'm getting the impression from your posts jmg9 that you're not quite understanding what the request is for. We're not talking about a repeating waveform based volume modification, like a tremolo. We're talking about an ADSR (well, really just a D) that is triggered by a threshold and causes a user definable amount of volume reduction after the D has finished. This is currently accomplished by adding a modulator using the Envelope tab, not the Normal tab, which is what I think you're thinking of. I guess i should have been more specific but I was using Melda terminology.
Anywho, glad it's been added on the list, even if it's at the bottom. I figured it would be super easy for Melda to create as it's all existing functionality. There arent actually that many triggerable envelope shapers out there, certainly none with the amount of control that Melda offers... so i figure it could be an easy win for them.
