If you spent 15-20 years of your life making something of your own, it can't be just for the money.trimph1 wrote:Oh come on. Don't tell me you would not do the same if someone is coming to you with a bunch of cash in hand.
I think Paul McCartney has been kicking himself for the last 30 years for letting the rights to the Beatles songs pass out of his hands.

The market for used Macs might gain a little heat...

Great idea really, but we all knew it was coming.
And to be fair, Logic's synths were pretty outdated. However, it's probably now the best native synth that comes with any DAW. I'm not including any 3rd party synths of course.
I can't see a huge migration to Logic (or a mac) just for Alchemy considering the 3rd party competition. But you've go to admit it's an excellent update (not that I'd go back to Logic, good DAW but not for me). It will definitely sway some of the fence sitters.
However, I can't mention Apple without mentioning my utter hatred for them (and it has nothing to do with Alchemy I assure you).
God bless Bill Gates.

A sound designer which worked for this release said to me that Camel Audio worked with their personal on this release and not apple people. They work now for Apple but Camel Audio with the guys still alive inside the Apple Castle

Highly unlikely - they have probably been working their asses off getting the late beta finished and integrated into Logic so quickly. As I have said before, Ben and co were never that materialistic, not that money isn't important at all, developing a new version of such a complex plugin probably required some serious investment, but I think it would have been more important to ensure the future of Ben's baby. He put a lot into it and I think it is unlikely he is just living it up now, he would want to stay involved and to ensure it has a sustainable future. Which appears to be the case now that it is part of Logic.TheoM wrote:trimph1 wrote:Oh come on. Yet someone else who just can't seem to grasp that this is entirely camel audio's "fault".
Apple saw an opportunity and they took it.
it's besides the point.. there was no FORCING here - no, "if you don't sell us your company we will kill you".
It was camel audio's decision and only theirs, well knowing that apple would instantly stop developing the windows version and integrate it into their products exclusively. The only company anyone has any right to feel abandoned by is camel audio.
I mean camel wanted out, they wanted money, they took apple's offer, and are likely relaxing, sipping margaritas by the sea mamasita. With not a care in the world how many ex customers are angry at them right now.

I don't use a Mac, Logic, nor Alchemy, but somehow I think it is tough being in the plugin business, maybe the option for Camel was to sell out or go out of business. I don't know the details but it isn't like someone cheated someone out of their inheritence.
