As if someone from Camel Audio or Apple was here to give a f*ck. It's just us users here. You know, the folk who have no say-so whatsoever as to how things turn out.

Why turn every thread into a whinefest? Wtf is there to gain?
Like I said before...some still are going through the shock/trauma of Camel's supposed betrayal of their customers... :hihi:

I am equally as angry at Camel Audio. They abandoned the people who made them the company they are. Without the loyal customers, there would have been no offer from Apple.

Ben can burn in hell with whoever is running Crapple these days.

Man, some of you people are just right over the top here.

My Alchemy still works on my PC and I did get Mac to run Logic...as well as the new Alchemy. I do not get tying my existence to one single developer. Try that. It might save your heart... :help:

Help ... I can't find the emoticon for 'smug look'.

I am going to be irritated by not being able to use it in Live though.

lnikj it's OK.

I'm told I have a perpetually smug face, even when I'm... you know... having the Big O... So I'll just sit here and be smug for you.

Okay, here is why I am pissed off at Apple.

I, like many of us here, purchased Alchemy and got great enjoyment from it. I would happily pay a fair bit for an update like this, but its not available in a form that i can use in my current setup. Meanwhile, a whole load of Logic users, many of whom may never have wanted this, will get it for free. That annoys me, there's nothing i can do about it, except complain.

The music software industry is a fairly small one, small enough that companies like Camel, u-he, FabFilter etc have been able to exist and thrive. I'm not an advocate of the free market, but this industry is one example where i see it working fairly well, good companies with decent products and fair prices can be successful. However Apple are bigger than the whole industry and this is a demonstration of that fact. Yes, I can now buy a version of Alchemy 2, but only if I succumb to the somewhat dictatorial market that Apple users (myself partly included, i have an iPhone) submit to.

I am a little pissed at Camel but, as someone that compromises my own integrity and principles doing a job i hate because it allows me some freedom to follow my own creative pursuits, I totally understand their decision. Sure, they weren't physically forced into the deal they made but money is a good means for coercion and I have no doubt the figures offered were huge.

Mainly though, I'm angry at Apple because of their power, I'm angry that they can and will restrict the availability of a product in such a way. I'm not surprised, this is exactly their modus operandi. I know that, Camel knew that. Nevertheless, I don't like it.

Apple is not restricting you in any way from using Alchemy - Just buy a MAC and Logic.

The so called Free Market allowed Microsoft to bail out Apple years ago to rise again like a Phoenix and rule the world!

Post

So you're saying everyone should be pissed off at Microsoft for starting all this?

Post

Why not? :hihi:

Sure, i can do that but, as a Windows-based Live user it means i must change my entire studio into an Apple-based one. That seems like a restriction to me.
