So I see they've (Cakewalk) done a substantial update on Z3TA+... called it Z3TA+ 2

Has anyone running Z3TA+ on Receptor tried this latest version?

Any comments?

No demo no try ;-)

While I might be able to come up with a melody & rhythm, possibly Reggae, to go with that response :) it is not accurate.

Zombie thread alert...

I got the z3ta 2 demo to run, however, it's not responding to program changes via the Receptor system (1.9 OS on Receptor 2).

Has anyone else gotten this to work?

I should clarify: using the patch selection system in the Receptor GUI fails to work. The plugin audio briefly cuts out but the current patch is still selected.

As an alternative, I tried installing one of the patches as an FXP using the "Drop Installers Here" method, just to see if the Receptor would pick it up... failed. Not sure where to check the logs for this.

FYI just posted this to the Cakewalk forums:

...getting z3ta+2 is *this* close from being truly workable on [the Receptor]

Two main issues (with OS1.9, which is not the latest):

- You cannot recall patches via the Receptor host software. You can select patches within the VST's browser, but whatever the VST needs to respond to in terms of "load this patch" from the VST host... well, it ain't happening. That's the real show-stopper.

- The vertical slider GUI elements don't work. Everything else seems to: rotary knobs, switches, horizontal sliders, changing FX order, menus... just the dang vertical slider! Not THAT big a deal, because if patch loading worked, you could do sound design on one machine and then load patches into your Receptor version. But given that patch loading doesn't work...

Otherwise, the synth sounds and performs great on the Receptor.

Honestly, getting the first issue resolved is the main hurdle.

That would require some communication between Muse and Cakewalk, because there's something the host expects VSTs to do that z3ta+2 isn't "respecting". Such is my guess anyway... given how many VSTs respond to Receptor's "load patch" calls with no issues.

Meanwhile, if anyone has z3ta+2 working on OS2.0.1... please share.

Can't resist flogging this deceased equine a bit more:

I'm unable to load .fxp files via the plugin's menu option from an arbitrary location on the Receptor filesystem (like My Documents).

As I'm typing this I realized I haven't tried loading fxps from within the plugin's patch folder structure. Hrm... will have to try that tonight.

If that works, I'll try creating a shortcut to the appropriate "Banks and Patches" folder in whatever path z3ta+2 is looking at by default. (Assuming a shortcut will work in lieu of a symlink.)

If it's a bug in z3ta+2's use of the "load preset" API... I'm at the mercy of Cakewalk's dev team.

Its been successfully installed and used in the newer model Receptors, and in fact we showed it at the NAMM show when it first came out. Installed through the Software manager by running the executable.

In fact, if memory serves, we are able to run almost all of the Cakewalk plugins… I think the only ones that don't work are the ones that actually come bundled with Sonar, and that is only because of a licensing issue.

They make really good software, and Z3ta-2 sounds really great.

Bryan,

Thanks so much for confirming that!
