An equally good sale is going on right now for this as well. I only see user install option for old Addictive Drums 1.
Is it possible?
Thanks,
Dirk

It definitely is compatible, but I need to be frank and say installation is a nightmare that requires some help from us. This is all because XLN does not have an installer for the program… it is installed over the internet using a script they run on their servers, and as such, it doesn't know what to do if it sees a Receptor.
Getting the DLL to install is fairly easy, but their expectation is that everyone will install the drum libraries over the internet, and that is where the problems creep up.
If you need help, we can install the stuff for you by paying an incident fee, but I sure wish they would have supplied an installer with AD2 like they did AD1 and there would be no issues…

Wow that is also bad news that will require a rethink on my part. Isn't it possible to install it on my desktop and copy the .dll and libraries over manually? Since the Receptor uses a fake windows framework, seems like it should be possible.
Thanks,
Dirk

Hi Dirk (love the pseudonym, by the way).
I wish it was as easy as that, because if it was, we'd just make our own installer and be done with it.
My understanding that getting AD2 installed is just part of the issue, the much bigger issue is the libraries, which need to be downloaded directly from their website as part of their copy protection and e-commerce solution.
We can get it installed for you, but it does require some remote surgery to make it happen.

Thanks,
yes it is a bit of an obscure reference, glad you got it.
I kind of feared that as I saw no reference on plug-o-rama to v2.
Yeah the original version had an actual installer if I recall.
If I end up going that way, I will let you know.
Thanks again,
Dirk

Well while I'm posting here, I might as well ask again, any movement on the AD2 front?

Okay, I've fully researched this and found out what is involved, and I can tell you now you won't like the answer.
Basically, XLN has switched to an entirely ONLINE system for software installation and authorization. They only allow their software to be downloaded onto a PC or Mac and installed virtually from the website. There are NO INSTALLERS available for their software… it has to be done online. That means there are no installer scripts to run, so if it can't be installed without doing it online. Yes, Receptor can do a lot of things on line, but they have not designed their online install tools to work on Receptor, so when you try to use the online method in Receptor it doesn't know what to do and fails.
So to get it on to a Receptor, you'll have to install it on a PC first. Then you'll have to arrange for a remote session with tech support so that we can manually move the files that they install on line, and do a special offline activation that requires stuff to be manipulated at the command line. This also means that you cannot purchase and install sound libraries yourself as they too need to be install on a PC first then moved via remote session and back-door authorized.
So… where as it is _possible_ to get this software to run, nothing about it is easy. I cannot recommend strongly enough that you stick with Addictive Drums 1 (which has an installer and works fine) or move to EZ Drummer 2, which installs and authorizes easily on the system.
Sadly, no amount of work on our side can fix the issues that their online only install and activation presents… we can get it working, but you will have to pay for a remote session, and at the end of the day I think you are far better off using the prior version or switching to one of the other drum libraries that are out there.
Sorry it isn't better news, but the only people who can make this an easier task is XLN, and they seem very fond of online installation and authorization of their software…
Should XLN want to support online installation in a Receptor, we will be happy to provide them with a unit to get it working...

Wow, OK thanks Bryan for the research. That helps with my planning then, I certainly won't be going that route.

I've played EZ Drummer 2 a lot and I have to say I'm fairly blown away with how good it sounds, and the pattern creator is a huge boon to any song writer.
Cheers

Yeah that's where we will go on divergent paths. I don't use any patterns, I trigger them live, so a big difference there. I trigger with various controllers like Trapkat, Axis 64, or Linnstrument. So my needs are going to be different, actually tried a few different EZ kits a friend has, no go for me.
Thanks though.
