Yes, i see what you mean. Sometimes, if i open an old track, it will say 'cannot find vsti tau.dll' cos i have 'tau2.dll' on my machine. To solve this i just resave the song, and it opens again fine.

Good point - but if two or three dozen people posted saying they are getting regular crashes then we have an issue.

I know the question was not the best - I simply want to get some honest feedback - I use Logic 5.5 on a PC and sometimes it crashes like the clappers - for a variety of reasons - I would not recommend it to someone on PC - but I would and could explain (in detail)why.

I like Orion enough to go buy it - but money aside I don't really fancy 'losing' my compositions or having to save a tune in a variety of places and in a variety of ways - so I will pursue the question - perhaps elsewhere to get some idea of what issues to look out for.

i have used orion for many years now and along the way have recommended it to not only people who just ask out of the blue but also to people i consider friends and even some people in the real world too 8)
also im teaching my son to use it so i would recommend it

as i have stated i get very rare crashes usually cos im pushing cpu way beyond limits with fx n stuff so i dont think its a prob with the programme its a prob with me

the thing vitd suggest where you update a plug basically it asks you to find the plugin so you click on the newer file and as krim says when you save its all sorted :)

I have used the demo of Orion Platinum5 now for some time, I tend to use it as a test bed for downloaded plugins.

I have heard people complain about Orions stability but must say I have very few problems with it - what are other peoples experiences, of its stability and overal usability.

If it works ok for you, what does it matter about other ppls probs? There are a group of anti OP ppl here who will slag it off till the cows come how, so this thread is totally pointless. (As would be a thread on any host)
Don't worry. The young man just want to be able to learn from other people's mistakes in advance. :D

Yes. No problems with ORION or anything else. Ever. Why? because I back-up my VST folders every time I back everything else up [every week or there abouts].

original flipper, I have never had any stability problems with ORION Platinum and I have never lost any work. Sometimes opening a new song can cause a crash but I always press CTRL+S before CTRL+O. As Krim pointed out, that same song will load perfectly after I restart and I put that down to working with beta versions all the time. It is as stable as any piece of software I have ever used.
I save multiple versions of songs because I don't want to ruin anything that I am already happy enough with, not because I am worried a file might get corrupted.

old fart

Sorry. I hope nothing I said has kicked up too much of a fuss. Orion is far and away the best and easiest host I have used and I just like it better. So what's the bother? I'm sure the problems can be resolved.

When it comes to music, buy the software! Don't copy it.

for what it's worth now, depending on the song, I use cubase 5.1, orion plat and fl studio. I have lost songs in all of them.

Rather than argue with zeolots, you'd find a great deal more truth and reality by checking in the old Yahoo Orion forum as well as the old Orion Central forum which is still up. That way you can avoid both the zeolots and those who would tell it like it is and create a flame war. You might also check the newer synapse forum to see what bugs are currently being reported.

You might want to skip the old forums if you're looking for useful bug reports. Orion has advanced several versions since then so their relevance is arguable. Other than that, there is some useful information in those old forums and they sometimes make interesting reading. As Tee stated, the new forum has a section devoted to discussing bugs but I think I've already seen this discussed over there so I think you already know about that.

Use ORION Platinum and VAZ Modular. Is there anything else you'd like me to help you with today?
