This is the case for 1.1.11 and for beta 7.
Is Bitwig the problem or am I doing something wrong?

I'd personally suggest asking Bitwig for support. After all since it is working in one host... MIDI out is a very "specific" feature, it doesn't work in many hosts, others don't even allow MIDI routing...

I have contacted Bitwig as well. The reason that I thought it might not be all BWs fault is because all my other midi out plugins work fine.
Groove Agent 3 and 4 are two other virtual drum machines that work fine in Bitwig with midi output.

Hmmm, ok, could you send me a simple project to info@meldaproduction.com? (I'm not exactly a bitwig user, so it might be rather complicated to set the routing up).

I have done a quick test with mDrummer Small in Bitwig, and didn't get any midi out either. At least one other midi generating VSTs (Kirnu CreamCM) works fine.
Note that you don't need to do any routing in Bitwig: both midi and audio are available all along the device chain, and if one device generates audio (resp. midi) it replaces the previous content. So just putting mdrummer and then any synth should work. There is a little square yellow led between devices to indicate if there is midi content.
(You can do explicit midi routing if you want to, with the note receiver, but that didn't work with mDrummer either).
