Workflow improvement suggestions regarding selections.

Hey Team,

some more food for thougth here.

It would help a lot if a command would be available that
selects everything inside marked region.

Shouldn't be too hard to implement and would make a lot of sense in my book.

Also maybe a double-click on a marker should select everything
in the region covered by the marker.

If you select a Marker clip, and use the shortcut for "Put markers around currently selected clips" it will set the In-marker and Out-marker over that region. It's not a double-click but its a one key action. I have it assigned to A. I use A constantly to set the markers over any group of clips.

After that there are all kinds of things you can do with that range like splitting, removing it, or deleting it and removing the hole.

Selecting within Tracktion selects entire clips, so using the In-marker and Out-marker is really important for editing.

Indeed, I know. However I was talking selecting stuff, not splitting or deleting stuff.
Everything else in terms of editing is nice and smooth, just selecting stuff is arkward,
especially when you have things that usually rely on relative grid mode (which T6 doesnt have),
and need to move or copy stuff around, y'know..

I do this right now with a workaround via putting those tracks with small regions inside a folder,
put a dummy track with a dummy clip that spans the whole range of small clips also into that folder,
close the folder and move that folder overview region around.

Works pretty well, but as I say, thats in general pretty arkward, because sloooooow....

Isn't that what the ALT-drag is for?

Once again, I am talking about keycommands. (a.k.a. speed/workflow enhancement)

I don't have time to drag stuff around all day long, when I can cut time in 10th by hitting a shortcut...

And tell me how you work with alt-drag stuff, that needs to be copied/dragged in relative position, not absolute position to the grid... and with a lot of small regions that do not end up nice and tight at the marked in/out borders...

I practically gave up on that and use the dummy clip method since a while now when I do stuff with T6...

Sorry.
I don't really worry about that efficiency thing too much.
I worry that if I do everything really quick I'll make a song that lasts longer than the time it took to make.

Isn't this the sort of thing scripting is for? - make a script and assign it to a key.

You could make a script if you could select everything inbetween
locators with a keycommand at all, which you can't...
Which is indeed why I started this thread at all...

You could make a script if t6 would allow you to use relative grid mode, which it doesnt..
Which is why I use the workaround I mentioned above.

But let it go guys, doesn't matter...
