Extremely loud background noise

I have a behringer UM2 and a behringer c-1 mic and when I try to record with tracktion, the mic picks up way more noise than it does when I'm just monitoring from the interface. There is an extremely loud background noise and when I just say something it sounds like I am screaming. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Thanks in advance

I'd start by turning all three knobs on it all the way off.
If it's been monitoring okay from the UM2, it may be that the Output knob is up too high. It sounds like it's way too loud. Hopefully you can find a balance, but mind your hearing!

I've tried the free version of presonus studio one, and sound is not too loud. Is there any driver or anything I can install?

I can think of 2 things it might be.
1. In tracktion, the gain for that device needs to be reduced. If you select the interface and talk/sing, how are the level meters at the bottom of the screen, when you select that input track? They should peak just below 0.
2. You may be getting a feedback loop in the path. Try disabling the "end-to-end" so the channel(s) being recorded aren't sent out to the UM2, who may be sending that back to Tracktion...
