So the latest Diva version is f**king with me.

Opened a nice jam I was very happy with from yesterday. All synths in the arrangement are Diva, except the bass. 3 sort of lead sounds from Diva doing the main thing. I opened it next day aka today and whoa! All the Diva presets was f**ked! Like completely.. Well, there was some resemblance to the sounds, but the concept was basically broken.

Luckily I found a way to fix it: re-select the presets, then all was back to normal.. Sheesh louise.. I was sweating on this one.. :P

Any chance for some explanation? I was lucky I had saved my newly created presets, other vice I would have been completely f**ked 4 evaaaah and would have probably gone flame-ranting by now lol.

(Ableton Live, latest version also.)

Diva rev2165 is an old revision and contains bugs, which have been very likely solved in the latest builds:

We suggest using the latest builds and to update to the release version in about 1-2 weeks.

Cheers,
Michael

What do you mean, when I download it now from your website its still rev2165..
There is a new version coming in 1-2 weeks?

Yes but i suggest to work with the beta version rev3819, which can found here:

And, when we released the update in 1-2 weeks, install that version.

Ok then, as long as it will not mess up with my Diva racks in Live, and my Diva presets. Last time I updated it seemed fine.. Previously though I have experienced problems with my Diva racks in that Diva is not updated within the rack. Long time ago tough. Might have been the beta prior to the 1.0 release.

Wow, the GUI looks much better now! More crisp and more easily readable. Also really great size scaling. Is it an illusion or was the graphics upgraded? LOL it feels much better now..

Graphics were indeed updated.

So it happened again, only this time I did not save the modified presets in advance. Hours of work, 1 project containing a few drum tracks then all the rest basicly 7 melodic tracks of Diva.. because.. I love Diva. Its all gone, everything unrecognizable.. effects, mix volumes, all parameter settings out the window. Not so cool when you have one of those musically productive and creative moments, and you just want to move fast and you rely on the DAW to keep the synth settings. :scared:

Any chance of restoring it?

Two things come to mind:

- accidental MIDI learn
- MIDI Program Change

For an accidental MIDI Learn, check out the cogwheel on the top right of the new GUI, and see if anything is assigned to a MIDI contoller that might cause the preset to sound wrong. You can MIDI Unlearn it form there.

For MIDI Program Change, check if you have presets in the MIDI Programs folder in your preset library. If so, click "reveal in Finder/Explorer" on MIDI Programs, temporarily move them somewhere else, e.g. your desktop, and *restart* Live. See if it still happens. In that case, check out Live's user manual to see how to not send MIDI Program Changes to plug-ins.

- Urs

Thanks Urs!

Unfortunately it was none of those. I dont have anything in the midi programs folder. Nothing is midi learned. I use Live Racks and Lives control surface system instead, so I get 8 macros for Diva in a rack. Basicly set up like this, hit "configure" on Lives vst interface, then touch the Diva controlls youd like. Those now apear on Lives vst gui. Then I rack the vst gui, hit "Map" on the rack and macro learn up to 8 parameters. Usually with Diva: filter, reso, lfo2 rate, filter fm, osc2 tune, osc3 tune, master volume.

The weird thing is if I select another preset then select the used preset again it gets a lot closer to the edited sound I did on these presets. Problem is its hard to get it back 100% because I tweaked them a lot. Even poly, accuracy and offline acc resets.. Now I have used Diva since the early beta days. But this problem started this summer.

Is there any sort of registry I can reset in Live or something along those lines?

Alternativly could I perhaps get an older version that does not have this problem, if it is Diva?

Live 64bit, v9.2.2

(Btw! future update request: to be able to lock the microtuning menu. Im using a 13 note scale in this project. Yes, im getting money for it ;) Its hard to write in say a 13 note scale while searching for the right presets. For every preset you flick through you also need to scroll down the microtuning menu, close it, and click the tuning led on. Thats 4 clicks for each preset. Gets tedious if you want to try out many presets. :) My workaround is to find a note in the western scale that matches ok with a microtuning note, and use that microtune note as key note in the project. Then I can atleast preview presets quickly more or less in key with one note. :P)

That's already availabe, but it's at the end/bottom of the list, so if you have alot of tune files in the active folder it's a pain to scroll all the way down. A request to move the Lock to be displayed at the top would be a good thing.

Hey, awesome! I just found out if you rightclick over the tuning menu before you open it you get an option to lock it! Same with the on/off led. Fantastic. :)

Hmmm, sorry, can't really see the cause... could you send us a Live set to support@u-he.com? - We would love to check it out. Also maybe the preset that you loaded.

Good news and bad news!

Good news: Its not Diva, its Live!

Bad news: It happens to every VSTi in Live 9.2.2, so im addressing Ableton Support now.

How to replicate it: Load Diva or any other VSTi to a track in Live. On Lives VSTi interface at the bottom of the screen unfold the Device Parameters (triangle icon) and hit "configure". The original VSTi interface now pops up. Touch 8 basic parameters on the VSTi interface so they pop up in Lives VSTi Device Interface. Typically stuff like filter, resonance, osc pitches, master volume, some lfos or fm etc. Now right click on top of the Instrument Device and chose "Group" so to make a Rack. Then hit the "Map" button on the Instrument Rack and assign the 8 Device Parameters to each of the 8 Rack Macros.

Twist the Macros around a bit. Now open the VSTi interface with the monkey wrench icon on the Device Title Bar, next to the triangle icon. The VSTi interface pops up. On the VSTi interface load a new preset. Play it. Now copy the track. Play the copy. Its completely changed from the original, Live does not remember VSTi parameter settings when a song is saved or even when a VSTi in a Rack is copied like this inside a project!

I hope Ableton can fix this asap!
