Yes, I have actual experience with this particular MusicTech zip file.

7zip got no problems opening larger files than 4GB though, like I have packed with WinRar.

This is a particular problem when somebody packs a file on OSX using a program that can't open such large files on Windows.

It's some Mac thing, not the size. I've had other recent archives (smaller than 4GB) that have required using something other than WinRAR or 7zip to unpack. MusicTech has been using whatever is making these incompatible archives for several of their recent issues. But they aren't the only ones.

Sample Logic's Cinematic Guitars Infinity has a 48 hour crossgrade sale, it's still to pricey imo.

I have CG 2 and most likely will buy CG 1, but I'm really hoping for a holiday fire sale for Infinity, otherwise I might just stay happy with 1& 2 and Shreddage and Ghostwriter...

anyone own Infinity?

Where do you see a 48 hour sale? That looks like the regular crossgrade price.

It says on Tracktion website that a user can upgrade from any version to T6 for $30

Does that include upgrading from the free T4 ?

In case why would any user buy T6 new for $60 ?

Hmm... what about the ancient Mackie version(s?)?

I recently unsubbed from their mailing list that came to a really old alternate email address of mine... actually from when they picked up Mackie's mailing list, I guess.

Never really got any traction with Tracktion, though.

Oh I see now. hmm yes I think it is the headers of the file are corrupted/not written properly. 7-zip actually reads (needs to understand) those headers, some programs incorrectly do not (which can work to ones advantage-- this situation). I can actually open the file in 7-zip and see the files, I just can't extract from it because 7-zip doesn't know the compression type in order to reconstitute the files.

That's a neat deal! Checking my E-mail, they also did such a deal in August 2012, but for some reason or other I waited and bought it at $40 in April 2013 instead :dog:

Well, it is a great lib, so money well spent nevertheless :tu:
