Don't get me wrong. It only shows that DIVA reached a level where people can't judge anymore by a blindtest if something is (only) virtual or pure analog. So yes you are right they of course know what sound analog but not if it's virtual or not anymore. Seems we live in the golden age of virtual instruments or?pdxindy wrote:it is a clever answer... but not accurate to the circumstance. Plenty of analog gearheads guessed in that thread and those people know what is "analog sound"BMoore wrote:So yes, and exactly.murnau wrote:No, only that most users don't know what is "analog sound".
I was pretty disappointed in Diva

people DO realise that reality IS digital yeah?
on off messages, electrical signals interpreted by the brain.
Everything we can perceive is 'digital', just at higher resolutions than an i7 is currently capable of.

TBH, I was pretty disappointed in Diva too because it wasn't this plug in:

But as actual, usable plug ins made by real life developers go, Diva is amazing.

I am quite dissapointed because DIva doesn't exists as hardware, it's my favorite instrument and want it to be more inmediate.

Chilly7: Diva is world-class, but if Diva doesn't work for you, then my suggestion would be to just move on -chilly7 wrote:I was pretty disappointed in Diva. I do not own real analog synth nur Diva but by jajging this video i can hear magical and deep tone from analog and dead and lifness of Diva.
Perhaps Image Line's Harmor might be more your cup of tea?

Disappointed in Diva...
It's like saying: I'm disappointed in a Macallan 25 or a Laphroaig 30 for God sake!
Go back to beer

Yucck. Tastes like mouth wash. Whiskey made for use in small amounts in a blend, sold with a premium price tag to suckers. A bit like analogue synthsBDeep wrote:liquidsound wrote:Disappointed in Diva...

I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

This will keep happening, people coming in hot off the internet having been sold something as the truth, and they will be perceived as being rude and insulting. Like the OP.
Chances are the OPs do not even know they're being rude and insulting, could for instance be a cultural thing combined with poor translational skills (they could come from countries where people are and also appreciate others being more direct), lack of life experience (ie they're young) etc. Or just poor translational skills by itself. Or they're just being rude and insulting because they're trolls.
For me personally, i'm not experienced enough to comment on how well DIVA compares to analogues. I have never touched any of the real analogues that DIVA is modelled after, and my ear isn't that trained that it can pick up on these things. For me, DIVA just sounds good, many synths do, for various reasons, but it can be a bit hard (for me) to get what i want from and to mix. But that's all on me, and will hopefully change with time

Great points, but it could have been worse, i.e. "I was pretty disappointed in yo' mama".DavidEkl wrote:+1themachinelt wrote:why is this even a discussion. This should be closed.

Wait, actually that would have at least been intentionally funny, so forget it.

That's more appropriate for the Caol Ila brand used for the Peat notes in most blended whiskeys. A Filter type for a VST analogy.ericj23 wrote:Yucck. Tastes like mouth wash. Whiskey bahhhh. Tequila gentlemen......a nice Blue Agave.......
Anyway I spent the entire morning being blown away by DIVA's sound and quality. I used to own a Juno 60 and it never sounded this good. If the Juno sounded like DIVA I never would have sold it............
