Can you install both 32 bit and 64 bit on a PC, if first installing 32 bit, and then install again 64 bit ?
Depending on which DAW in use, it can be handy to have a plug both in 32 bit and 64 bit installed.

Saxlab has been around a long time, I'm surprised it didn't get the chopping block. I think it was around when I got daOrgan..like 2004-ish.braj wrote:Saxlab is wonderful, one of my favorite plugins.alvfaria wrote:Now I'll start to save to buy SaxLab when it gets retired too.![]()

Hmmm mixed emotions about this news. I've always loved Linplug. Gakstoar Alpha was one of the first plugins I ever downloaded. I've owned Delta III, Organ I, CronoX 1, Element P, RMIII, RMIV, RMV, Octopus, and Albino.
But "we're dropping these products and they may at some point stop working however if you still want to buy them here you go".
I can see dropping some of the others but RMV ? Still a great drum machine. I use it all the time but am I the only one who gets a little queasy using discontinued plugins ?
Yes I realize all the discontinued plugins will theoretically keep working until I do something like....update an OS but it still gives me an uneasy feeling.
I almost wonder if there are perhaps legal reasons for dropping some of the plugins (why not drop SaxLab ?).
Oh well it is what it is.....good luck to Linplug. I hope you're still around for another 15 years or more.......

That got me thinking too, but then I checked the update history and RMV for example was updated as recently as last year: http://www.kvraudio.com/news/linplug-up ... -rmv-25022Teksonik wrote:But "we're dropping these products and they may at some point stop working however if you still want to buy them here you go".![]()
Taking into perspective that Sylenth1 according to info at KVR was last updated in 2008
Which plug is then really retired? By that I mean on Windows I expect RMV to at least work 4-5 more years

Oh yes RMV will work virtually forever.......if you never update your OS......or perhaps your DAW.Numanoid wrote: Taking into perspective that Sylenth1 according to info at KVR was last updated in 2008

Sylenth 1 is a bad example.....it's still being developed albeit very slowly........

When it comes to Alpha, I can understand that it is being retired. It doesn't quite sound up to the standard of todays plugs

Huh ? Studio computer is Win 7 and has been for going on two years, Internet computer (old studio computer) is still WinXP and laptop is Win 10.Numanoid wrote:So when did you update to Win 7 then ?Teksonik wrote:Oh yes RMV will work virtually forever.......if you never update your OS......or perhaps your DAW.![]()
I'm afraid I don't get the joke..............
Unlike the Mac, Windows doesn't usually break compatibility with every .00001 update but you never know what the future holds.
From the Linplug Facebook announcement:
"At some point these instruments probably wont work in a (then) up to date environment, so be careful with any updates you make to your DAW computer".

Yeah, sorry about that, I think I must have read that you stated your where using XP still in another thread, so I asumed that was your studio computer
It is nice to have stuff work for ever, but then again how much does $20 buy a user in this day and age. Can hardly get a patch expansion for that kind of money, so the price point is the key for me in this regard, if the plug stops working in 2016, so be it, just gotta make sure it can provide so fun in the meantime.

For $20 or so, you may get some use out of it before there are comparability issue. Who knows where the "state of the Art" may be by then.
RMV for me anyway. MIDI files at least seem timeless and you can't have too many drum samples.

Oh yes $20 for RMV is great deal. But knowing in the back of my mind that maybe just maybe at some point a project started in 2015 may not load properly in the future and no fix is possible is a bit disconcerting. Of course no plugin is guaranteed forever. Will I stop using RMV now that I've learned it's been discontinued ? No but I'll be more likely to reach for something else now when looking for synth drums....I have several alternatives. I'm just kind of surprised it's one the plugins that's been dropped. It's a great plugin, solid and bug free for me. That's why I wondered if there was some other reason for dropping those plugins. Maxx may still have some rights to Octopus perhaps someone has rights to RMV. Maybe Linplug just wants to concentrate on Spectral and future projects. At any rate no matter what the reason I wish them well........
