Sorry, but that's just not how originality works.
Look at the thousands of guitar players being educated in clone factories such as the GIT - do they have a unique sound, approach or whatever and do they create unique sounding music?
99% of them don't, they just rest on their clone skills.

Then, I even experienced the same for myself. Before I became a "professional" musician, before I started studying things by all those wellknown methods, before I attended the music university, my playing (and especially my composing) had at least something unique to it.
These days, when I know about everything about chord theory, scales, harmonisation and whatever (let alone my "skills" in terms of recording music using computer based equipment), I usually experience a lack of ideas, a lack of inspiration and defenitely a lack in terms of originality.

And as said before, you can watch that often.

I tried different approaches when teaching by myself. Instead of using books establishing techniques by demonstrating licks and whatever, I allways try to show the principles behind something.
So, whenever it comes, say, to teaching scales, I explain the scale, rhythmic possibilities, scalar possibilities (such as playing in all sorts of intervals etc.) and try to encourage my students to use this knowlwdge to come up with their own ideas.
I never say things such as "look, this lick is using this scale" or whatever.

Unfortunately, such approaches very often don't work.
In all the years I've been teaching now (since 1987 that is, partially that even was a fulltime job) I've hardly came across more than 5-10 students that were really interested to find out what their own "voice" could be.
It's almost as if most of them expected to be cloned.
And that's also a big part of the reason why I stopped teaching almost at all - at least guitar teaching that is. These days I'm teaching stuff such as "making music on PCs". I find people being interested in these things to be more interested in unique sounding things as well.
There are many people using "originality" as an excuse for not having technique.
I am not talking about such people. As a truly creative person you should allways work on your technique/skills/chops as well.
You have to agree that it is much easier for i.e. Dimitar to find his own "sound" then for some "cool artist" to gather the skills Dimitar has.
No. I don't have to agree and I don't.
Maybe for some people this is true, but for most it isn't.

Sascha,

I think you got me wrong. I dont claim that being a good copycat will eventually make you an original artist. I am just saying that if you want your "sound" to be recognized as something original, good and fresh, you have to have skills. It is not possible to make an shortcut on your learning curve and being instant "original artists" without passing all education steps that also include learning from others and also playing like others. Also, can you show me one single musician who didn't "steal" something from others. When I was younger, I spent many hours trying to sound like Mark Knopfler and practising "Sultans of swing", but that doesnt mean that now I want to sound like him. It is just part of education process.

Even if you are intersted in modern art, the professors in artschool will make you spend months and months learning about impressionism, renesanse, cubism, surrealism and dadaism because you cant create modern art if you do not understand what has been done so far.

I can't find the "Buy now" button to get your plugin :x It just sounds so real, tell us the truth! Aren't you feeding these demos into a real amp with a mic ?
Are you still looking for dry/wet guitar things ?
I could record my strat in dry + wet through my mesa combo and sm57.

Erik.

I know, I know... had some request already before.
Look, it really just started with this Rockman topic here on KVR.
I never thought it would turn out with such a great result.
Guess I was lucky and had the right idea and it worked. :)

Ampitube and also Guitar Rig are $399
Both can not touch my distortion,
or even come close...

Most of the other FX you can find as good in freeware VST's... or even better...

I would say, not less then $200 and not more than $400. :-o

What do you think ? :?

I never really thought about it...

Sounds reasonable.
Bur maybe not something for me until I got some really low latency card at home - on my laptop that is (the Hammerfall is sitting in the mobile rig and needs to stay there).
We'll see.

Hmmm, that would be over my budget... I have a mesa so I don't need badly an amp sim. At $200, I wouldn't get it but maybe around $100 (which is the usual price for plugins).
