I recently bought this plugin of yours and still have a loooooong way to explore all its possibilities.
In the meantime, am I right in thinking that, with a little bit of work, I could achieve similar or better results than with this plugin?

The two plugins are similar conceptually, but they're not in the same league.
It'd sure be nice if you could spend 30 bucks and get something comparable to MSpectralDynamics. Sadly, that isn't the case, and the only thing I know of that does what MSpectralDynamics is twice the price and requires a dongle.

...mmmmmm...interesting question in this context...seems to me you might be best served exploring/learning msd before investing on something else...one hidden value you may not be aware of, if msd is your first melda plug, is that msd is actually a member of "family" of plugs with very similar/consistant interfaces/functions...i follow mixbustv and respect his advise/experience, but after watching the video i have no real clue what the box does...
...too much poetry/metaphor for me, but that just me...cheers!...

This is what I wanted to confirm. I did pay for MSD and am a happy owner, but I am curious about this smaller, less expensive plugin because sometimes, like with EQ plugins, some jobs are done more easily with fewer knobs and options. Just wanted to know.bbaggins wrote:The two plugins are similar conceptually, but they're not in the same league.

Fully agree with you, thanks. I think mixbustv was too hasty to review something he admitted he had never used before. However, aside from the "poetry/metaphor", he did show some very audible effects of the plugin. And the little I read about it, seemed to be in line with what the much more powerful MSD can do.steve2KVR wrote: seems to me you might be best served exploring/learning msd before investing on something else...one hidden value you may not be aware of, if msd is your first melda plug, is that msd is actually a member of "family" of plugs with very similar/consistant interfaces/functions...i follow mixbustv and respect his advise/experience, but after watching the video i have no real clue what the box does......too much poetry/metaphor for me, but that just me...cheers!...

I will continue to explore/learn MSD.

Out of curiosity, what is it you're referring to?bbaggins wrote:the only thing I know of that does what MSpectralDynamics is twice the price and requires a dongle.

I own and use both Mspectraldynamics and Soundbrigade. They're both great plugins with their own strengths. Well actually the only weakness of MSD I can think of is that it's not exactly light on your CPU; it's a seriously deep plugin that can do some amazing things. Soundbrigade can do a few of the things that MSD can do (and do them well) but it's nowhere near as tweakable, although the upside is that it's very light on CPU and is much quicker to use. No sidechain on Soundbrigade either. Get them both!
