+1

I bought it mostly for the synthesis modules but the sample/loop content is a welcome bonus. I've wanted a 64-bit upgrade path for CM505 for a while and now I have one, or at least the closest thing to it.

For those getting RMV, here is a good tutorial on mapping a drum set. (Not many other tutorials on YouTube, unfortunately. But see here: )

Anyone pick up the Lambik Loops for their RMV?

I listened to the few samples available at http://web.archive.org/web/201509052019 ... m/rmv.html under "Sounds" but it was hard to make a determination from that.

I was too till I realised it didn't have any kind of random/round robin functionality (correct me if I'm wrong :)). So very neat for sure but I use that kind of randomisation way too much.

Varizer

The Varizer is a unique feature of the RMV. It is located below the EQ section. Essentially, the Varizer is used to introduce an element of randomness to the RMV's playback.

Real drummers never play two drum hits in exactly the same way. The RMV's Varizer is designed to imitate the small variations that naturally occur from drum hit to drum hit when a real drummer plays. This can add life and variety to drum parts.

The Varizer has three controls:

Style:

The Style control subtly varies the "playing style" each time a sound
is played, as if the instrument was being played slightly harder or
softer each time it was triggered. When a real instrument is played
there are always small variations that occur from note to note. For
example, a drummer never strikes a cymbal in the same position, nor
is the stick held in exactly the same way, etc. This control affects the
volume, pitch and to a lesser extent, the timbre (provided the filter is
switched on) of the sound.

Exactness:

The Exactness control affects virtually all aspects of RMV playback,
introducing small random variations in many areas of the RMV's
internal architecture. Increasing the value of the Exactness control
can be thought of as a way of introducing the "tolerances" that are
found in the electronic components that make up hardware
instruments. The Exactness setting affects volume, pitch and timbre
but in a way that is different to the Style parameter.

Spectrum:

The Spectrum control sets the degree to which the sound's
frequency spectrum varies each time it is played back. Increasing the
value of the Spectrum control introduces more spectral variation from
note to note. The RMV's spectrum control can be used to simulate
the changing nature of the sound's frequency spectrum from note to note.
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

I find that the Varizer is fine for electronic styles of music. You can control style, exactness, and spectrum.

If I need a true Round Robin for that 'real drummer' feel, then I would use another product like BFD Echo, which is what I have now.

Until I can afford Geist, RMV, for $20.00, is amazing for what it does.

Found a way to manually add slices or remove them. I don't think there is information about that in manual or in videos (which I recommend watching). So here it is :)

Hope it helps someone

I think that 'Startup kit' option in RMV's Setup tab is broken. Tried to put it to Empty or 808 kit in 3 different DAWs, but no luck. Anyone tried it? In Alpha it works flawlessly.

I'm a bit late to the party and after reading this whole thread I'm looking at demo'ing and probably picking up RMV. :D

I really dig what you did to RMiV... :hyper:

Q. Is it possible to use some of the elements you created for RMiV to reskin RMV? I'm guessing some of the BG panels would be different and need a bit of Photoshop love.

It's also good for any time you happen to have a small sample set, like "hey there's this one snare from an old CM disk I like, but they only have it for one velocity".
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

Wow,

after thinking about for quite a while and being very happy with buying the RMV just at the beginning now I finally decided to buy the Octopus, thanks to you guys with some nice hints like "H.G. Fortune", "Pads", "Soundscapes"..... :D .

And I am really happy with it, that is really great and when you imagine a decade ago this mainly happens....And again a legacy of the great TC, wow, what wonderful sounds. I really feel that you can throw a lot of this gigabytes of cinematic, athmospheric f..... hundreds of euro costing libraries just back into the universe with something like Octopus.

And whats even greater: I have just tried the last two days making a complete song with modelonia 2 beta, great tool by the way, and just thought as I finished, when it comes to soundscapes, pads, I tried, and yes, something goes, but....And know: thats just the perfect companion to modelonia :D , and with RMV for the drums, what more do you really need. Thanks again guys for the hints :tu:

managed to get RELECTRO yesterday...the last of the LINPLUG $20 (?) blowouts and i must say i'm amazed at this thing when in the barely-wet stages + nuanced-filterings> can add QUITE a nice bit of intrigue to old loops placing them somewhere closer to today (or tomorrow) without losing their original roots-appeal. i get a feeling this is going to get MUCH use...i can imagine this'll do some nice things to synth-sounds as well...especially arpeggiations. ooh i'm strongly recommending this one also and once again thank you LINPLUG!!!
i used to always push the envelope...until someone showed me a letter-opener.

How does reLectro work, do the loops need to be running, or can you play regular synths through it, I mean like you would put flanger or phaser on a synth while jamming with it?

I did and think its a cool feature.

I just like to play with radically different samples sometimes to break a rhythm up, not so interested in humanising an acoustic kit (for instance)
