linux, wine, VST, Diva anyone?

Trying to go Linux for everything and was wondering if anyone has done this with Diva with good success as in near identical to doing it natively in win/OSX (i.e. low latency, stuff works ok etc.)

The Receptor device runs Linux and Wine. I know past u-he plugs (Zebra, 3C, Filterscape VA) worked well on that thing. I wouldn't be surprised if Diva ran just fine too.

Hi,
I could use Diva, Zebra2 and ACE without issues under wine with Reaper.
Also I wrote vst-bridge https://github.com/abique/vst-bridge and I could use them with native hosts like ardour3, qtractor and renoise. Yet I had issues with Bitwig.

It would be awesome to have Linux port of u-he plugins.

Ah, that's great news. I'm building a new system, mostly just to play Diva with a bit of samples/percussion. Too bad about BitWig though, I was really looking to use that over Ardour. Cool bridge, I'll give it a spin once I get my project off the ground, thx!

Normally working on Windows, but on my Linux boxes I'm running Reaper via wine.

Today I tested Beatzilla and it is running with a small issue.
Some texts are missing, so changing presets is difficult.

I guess that maybe a font is missing or something.

Yes, but I still prefer the wine-way. There is no native Linux version of Reaper.

The qtractor developer invested time to enable proper scanning
of U-he linux plugins in his DAW. On a system with the official nvidia3D driver,
they work really well, gui's resize, minimize, and click-to-front properly.

As they do in linux Bitwig, and in 32 bit wine with reaper.
I haven't checked 64 bit reaper) Lot's of good options.
The nvidia driver makes a huge difference. Hardware matters.

For windows versions,
do you have the windows Bazille demo installed? Try copying all the windows beatzille install content to the corresponding bazille folders, except for obvious duplicates, perhaps
rename preset folders etc, and rescan.

For linux, install the bazille demo and beatzille, and if the font is still an issue,
try melding the folders as above. Test in qtractor, bitwig, ardour, carla, traction,
renoise, reaper, and report back at sunrise

In the meantime I tested on a newer linux (ubuntu 14 LTS), same issue there.

I don't have nvidia, but integrated intel graphics on my linux laptops.

Well, Wine sucks for plug-in driven environments. It simply does. We won't support it, which is why we started to support Linux natively.

Please send a feature request for native Linux support to manufacturer of Reaper

I thought the plugins were the passengers, not the drivers

Myself, I'll be happy if reaper and wine both get better,
and let others be the linux daw creators. I can only recall
one real issue with one of your plugins in wine, and that was mainly
down to my poor reading skills, as your installers changed/improved.

Wine sucks a lot more when the OS addicts 'upgrade' working systems,
to potentially working systems.

The linux versions remind me of my Dad's BMW.
