thanks for encouraging me to find out.
it seems RELECTRO runs at whatever speed your DAW is set to whether the DAW is in play or not.
and yes you can feed anything through it. just now ran 5 random synth patches through 5 random RELECTRO presets and i'm telling you it'll be amongst the best $20 you'd have EVER spent.
i used to always push the envelope...until someone showed me a letter-opener.

Tempting for sure, also taking into account that reLectro is a rather new product, it was only launched about 4 years ago, being sold at 4 times the price that Linplug is asking now, it seems like a real bargain yes

After half an hour with the plug, I gotta say this one is really cool to use on synth leads too, that wave-replace function is a clear selling point :tu:

i almost bit at the original-price...i was tempted, for sure, but having a preference for devices which nudge and gently transform sounds into usable-shapes i decided this was more designed for destruction. alas i'm giddy with joy as to use it's usefulness
(again with low wet-settings and less-extreme filterings).
i think the final frontier will be in what it does to the human-voice....ooh the possibilities here.
all the parameters i tested last night automatically automate in ableton so live or step-sequenced automation is easily performed.
okay so you don't eat one night...just get this thing : G

oh....i see you're already having a gas with it!
good for you.
wave-replace? wow cool...i'll have to look it up.

It works like any audio effect. The way to control it by midi controllers is to insert a midi track (or instrument or whatever it is called in your host) and then direct the midi out to it.

Excellent plugin with nice filter and effects. Not over complicated and it is a joy to use :)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Yeah, the filters are nice, and responsive

Apparently it's a demo limitation . As soon as I entered my serial number, it worked as supposed to.

I'm still on the fence about Octopus (I've taken advantage of every other offering here!)

I have Linplug's "Spectral" synth, which seems to do everything that Octopus does and a little more (adding Pulse and Amplitude modulation to the FM choice for any oscillator.) However, I get that only from looking at the reviews and features list.

Anyone have some input on this for me?

strikingly different beasts when it comes to appearance and vibe of the presets....and i do believe overall sound.
i understand liking spectral a lot...but you won't get another chance to grab this thing for$20.
and it's money in the pockets of one fantastic company which has served us well.
it's a no-brainer if you ask me.

Spectral is CPU hungry as well! :-)

(Unless that is what you were referring to...)

Well, I've already purchased all the others, and definitely agree this is one company that deserves our enthusiastic (and dollar-wise) support!

Spectral is likely Octopus on steroids. I mostly want to avoid having a redundant synth around collecting dust.

BTW - Tim Conrardy did a bang-up demo for Octopus, which is the main reason I'm still on the fence!

Here is the features list I was referring to a few posts ago: http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2005/ ... s-octopus/

well then for $20 you got 550 spectral presets with a different UI.
i haven't gone through 1/10th of them because i always find something intriguing i want to immediately play with....varying the interface always keeps things fresh for me as well.
plus those TWO 32-step sequencers...spectral doesn't have that i don't think....
nor does it have 8 arms and shoot black-ink!

Right you are about that! (Well, ALL of your points, that is!)

Buying it immediately. Thanks!

EDIT: The deed is done. :-)
