BTW, bring a Oberheim filter! :)
and here we go!

state variable filter with a little distortion, switches from LP -> BP -> HP
input gain and drive parameters available as in other SM filters to distort the input:

http://www.synthmaster.com/synthmaster/ ... filter.wav

uses zero-delay feedback architecture, oh yes, finally I understood how to do it

there are 4 parts of this audio demo:

1st part: LP filter cutoff sweep
2nd part: BP filter cutoff sweep
3rd part: HP filter cutoff sweep
1st part: LP->BP->HP filter cutoff+mode sweep

Sounding terrific!!!
I read more than post = I listen more than I talk

If we are talking about filter design, I have a (for me) quite important FR...

Why on earth is there no "volume compensated" filter (not only in SM)????

I find it quite a pity, that I always have to draw host automation to keep the synth hearable in a dense mix because the of the filters closing, the sound looses 10-15db...

I am the only one having trouble with this?? Of course, I understand why this happens and that there are situations where this is wished, but I ask myself, if it would be possible to have an option to compensate this behaviour...

Post

Use compressor to keep it under control

Does not work for me...
If I set the compressor (no matter which I tried) that hard, that I can compensate 15db in volume, the sound with opened filter gets too squashed and ugly no matter what I try on the compressor settings...

The only thing, that worked for me in the past was volume automation...

Post

Than either volume automation or you automate threshold.

What about a filter, which can compensate the volume drop??? :hihi:

Is this filter going to be part of 2.8 or for a future update?

it will be, along with new ladder/acid/ms20 filters + a new "analog" ADSR envelope type.

so basicly 2.7 was a huge update for the oscillators, 2.8 will be a huge update for the filters :)

and then for the next 6 months of 2016 we'll be coding v3.0 + synthmaster "basic"

Fantastic! Love this support and continued application improvement. Thanks!

I always wondered why this, to me, "flaw" of analog filters is being modelled in digital filters. IMO, it's an undesirable thing you don't want to have. I don't see any musical use in modelling it, at least in this extent.

For those of you who have not noticed yet, there is a BOOST button for the analog/digital filters in SM.
what it does it it compensates for the volume drop caused by increasing resonance.

But compensating for volume drop due to filter sweep? Go use a compressor for it :)

Alright. Never made use of it when i owned Synthmaster tbh. I thought it'd just boost the resonance. Should RTFM sometimes. :)

can't you just route the envelope going to the VCF to the VCA in the other direction (with smaller amplitube)? so that as the envelope drives the filter cutoff down, it raises the volume?
