And it would be interesting to know in general if i could create really complex multis on a haswell i7 2.0 quadcore cpu with 8 GB ram. I know it´s more than the minimum needed to run it but with such a tool i want to get huge (means kind like huge Omnisphere 2 multis or several instances of Dune 2 and Alchemy 2).
Sorry to bother people with this questions but without demo i can´t imagine if this works out for me.
Using the OpenGL renderer helps. (see main preferences)
AFAIK, this is what Simon does. (although he is using a mac pro)
Yes, OpenGL-mode fixes the flickering issues, Falcon has been behaving fine since this was implemented - on both my Retina displays.
Thank you booth for the answer. Mmmhhh... think it´s not possible to answer all my silly questions (and i have still a lot) today so i will study the manual in depth and pull the trigger then maybe.
If i just get a few happy days of it it will be worth the price since everything else sucks :( and creating music is kind of a daily short holiday :D

Man, you're making this exciting - LOL...

Whatever..... bought a few minutes ago. But due to my very very slow net i need to wait some hours to test it.
I will try to make a track with it then in no time with default patches...... :phones:
The first thing i always do before (try) to create my own weird stuff :)

With the interface open in S1, even playing the most basic patch reports massive CPU useage inside the DAW. In fact, even turning off OSC's and just making Falcon do some graphical stuff without sound brings S1 to its knees. As long as the interface is closed, no problem at all.

I've made a ticket to support, but it seems they're real busy right now.
Are you on Mac or PC ?

In both case, if you want to lower the graphical usage, you can try using the OpenGL renderer
available from the main preferences.
Please note that on PC, I strongly suggest you to update your graphic card drivers to get the latest.

PC. Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

I did try the OpenGL option, it made little difference. Interface open while playing still maxes out. Upgraded to the latest graphics (GT 610) drivers too, but things didn't improve at all. I put all this info into my support ticket. Any other ideas that I can try?

Does this happens with specific stuff displayed or anything will exhibits this issue ?
Do you have some kind of always on top thing toggle on ?
What are your computer specs ?

The support guy will be there on Monday, so hopefully he will have time to check your ticket if he is not swamped with all the stuff received this WE. (he was at the AES)

i7 4470 3.5ghz
Asus H81 Mobo
16GB Ram
Nvidia GT 610

Nothing toggled on.

I did a bit more testing...this is weird!

With the Falcon interface closed, no problem at all.

With it open, I get the massive CPU spikes ONLY in Main window and sub-windows - Edit, Effects, Events, Mods (low CPU useage in the Info window). Oddly, there's nothing happening in the Events window when I switch to it, yet still the high CPU useage.

And the weird thing I just discovered after some more testing..If I switch the Falcon window size to 'Fit Screen Size' the CPU useage is much, much better, but only if the entire panel is inside the desktop size. If the panel is only slightly off the edge of the desktop, the massive CPU useage returns!

As a workaround for me at the moment, I can at least use it in 'fit to window' mode, but it's not comfortable with it being so large..

O.k. i installed now and it works fine so far in standalone but i didn´t see it within Logic. Do i need the UVI workstation to open it as AU?

Edit: O.k. solved.... the first validation failed for some reason.

Now i start to explore it...............

1. When using the different Beat Box kits in UVI Workstation, is it possible to assign a different audio out to each sound? (For example, I like to send kicks to one output, snares to another, etc.)

(otristan)
to do this on premade kit, you will need to use MachFive 3

Is it possible, use with Falcon?
Yep.
How can I assign the output of individual sound (key or sample)?
I can't find it.

e.g.) Beatbox Anthlogy - TR Clone 909
TRc-909-BD01.aif (C1), Main Out
TRc-909-RIM.aif (C#1), Out 2

output field of MachFive's List Editor.

Oh dear, please do read it before you bombard us again for the next 3 months with granular-related questions :D

Wow.... great stuff included so far.... it´s the most complicated synth hybrid so far (at least for me). The whole structure is a bit overwhelming compared to my other synths. So i think it took some time to explore it. Lol, it took me even some time to figure out how to start a simple OSC in a default patch. Maybe the only tool i have i really need to read the whole manual in detail :)
The cpu hit is heavy with some patches but not more than other synths. So it´s O.K.
The only thing is that the UI is still too small for me on my notebook, even on the largest setting and there is a lot of switching involved to get things..... otherwise i love it so far.

Just right click the keygroup or layer column view header in the left "List" panel so you can display "output" column

I am loving that Falcon is getting so much attention! Unfortunately, I don't have enough to get in on the intro deal right now (kicking myself) but from as much info that is in these 1st 48 pages, the videos & the manual... this might have to be my birthday present next year. Along with a purchase of Beat Box Anthology.
I read more than post = I listen more than I talk

Great.... just after 1-2 hours it feels a lot more intuitive. So it looks more complicated as it is. Even just one layer can do complex stuff. The granular part is awesome. The FM is O.K. (but not the best of course). The analog OSC is very usable but of course also here are far more advanced synths. The LFO and envelopes are a bit slow for my taste but not the worlds end.
I think i will love it to make evolving soundscapes, pads and polyrythmic stuff. It´s also great for intersting moving leads and stuff. From my first experiences the low end and general "bite" lacks a bit.
However, all parts together it´s an awesome tool and i just started to dive in.
For sure this is a great candidate for a desert island tool!
