I've long been a fan of the duophonic mode of Diva (with Ring Mod of course!) and know that it's in Zebra too. I was just trying with Bazille and that might be the most fun one yet, what with all the inter-orc audio rate modulation possible. I was playing around with it and noticed the offset 2 & 4 knob beside the glide parameter. I put this down to nothing and noticed that this can emulate the ARP Odyssey functionality where the first note glides but the second oscillator does not when played duophonically, which is a really cool function! Is that the behaviour it was trying to emulate? It would be cool to have that offset in Diva as well.

Seems like u-he are big Odyssey lovers with the duophonic mode on all their synths. Actually looking at the Tryrell layout and functions, it looks a bit inspired by that as well.

U-He synths get better the more I learn them. I've had only the demo of Bazille for so long now but I know I'll cave one of these days.

By the way, how does it work when there are more than 2 oscillators and duophonic mode active? Like with the moog osc section in diva. Does the third Osc go with the first? That wouldn't be as useful since it's the third osc that can modulate the first. OR with the 4 oscs in Bazille - does 3 go with 1 and 4 go with 2 I guess?

EDIT: correction above - Osc 1 fm modulates 2 and 3

yes, odds plus evens

I just downloaded Tyrell N6 for the first time in a long time and wow, even that has duophonic mode with ring mod and seems to really be able to do Odyssey type sounds. Seems like a Juno meets and Odyssey! I figured since I have Diva I wouldn't get much out of Tyrell but actually it has some functions that Diva doesn't. For example if you want to use Ring Mod with Diva, you have to use the MS-20 type osc, which only lets you mix Osc 1 and Ring Mod as Osc 2. Tyrell on the other hand let's you mix Ring Mod as well as Oscs 1 and 2, like the Odyssey, and a sub on top of that.

Surely you mean "it is cool that Diva has that offset as well" ;-)

Quoting Bazille user guide, page 35:
"duo ............duophonic, oscillators 1 and 3 are ‘lowest’ Priority, 2 and 4 are ‘highest’ priority"

Actually I didn't think it had it the same function and then noticed Range did something similar. Am I right that the range knob performs the same duties? I can't say that I have figured out how that works yet, but haven't checked the manual yet either.

I do wish that it was possible to mix Osc 1 and 2 plus Ring Mod in some module in Diva though...

It's possible on Zebra :)

Yep. And TyrellN6. And Bazille. And Beatzille!
