Oh, and I do archive/back up everything. That has naught to do with it, it's preposterous to pay more than once for something, it's a very simple principle. "no one's forcing you to buy so shut up" thanks for that, not sure who's twisting your arm to read a complaint either. Long time since I ranted on IK, but frankly and as off-topic as the fanboi may want mine to be, it's been in multiple ways the worst experience with software in my life. And Peter compounds it by his presence and argumentation here.

Defending added costs by pointing out the cost of doing business is BIZARRE. I do do business with one vendor that does not keep all of the older versions archived online, but should one absolutely need it, their representation is available and they'll hook you up. Who else has a 15 dollars new cost because the version is obsoleted? :nutter:

No sympathy, empathy, or charity...........whoowaaa!!! Just keepin' the lights on.

You know what's even more bizarre? That the OP didn't reply one time after posting the initial post, and probably already got sorted out by IKM support, yet this degraded in yet another IKM, let's be displomatic, and call it "discussion". With loads of people feeling betrayed even though they were well aware of their policy when purchasing their products. And who probably even would shove more money down their throats after ranting here, instead of letting the wallet speak.

Post

Yeah, well, I'm not so addictive that I'll keep banging my head against a wall. I really am done buying. As to the OP, I think IK does a fair job of support, not great in my experience, not terrible. And this probably was sorted and thread abandoned. My expectation is not sky-high. And for a moment I felt ditched, as at the time they came out with AT3 (wasn't free then) with no upgrade discount path, me having purchased everything and not that much an interval of time passed... that isn't something to hold onto for life. But it tamped down my enthusiasm. Then of course it's free, in a sense, but everything new is in presets that are crippled so the store is part of the plugin, you're going to comply and buy in order to check out a preset. Insulting everybody's intelligence. So they use up server space for demos behind this and this petty cost is passed on to the consumer for the obsoleted version. Come on. Don't host it then. 10 euros a pop, I don't think so.

The new treats are not so compelling for me to care about it, so I'm not conflicted. The very idea of paying a fee behind their increased server costs is kind of hilarious, here's Peter being snarky with 'so you won't back it up'; it's the principle. And typifies how they do business. Typical for them even as I never heard of that one. They feel they undercharged having underestimated the cost of hosting? That's the customer's problem now? No, that doesn't work as an argument at all. I'm already alienated, no big.

I think Numanoids idea to limit the amount of times you can download stuff is great. Like, limit the amount of downloads to 5, and if you need more than that, you can buy a token. That would ensure that traffic doesn't exceed better than the time limit, which is a bit pointless.

Post

Meh, it's not like I don't understand business, and I think 5 downloads of the same exact file indicates a disorganized customer and as such a bit of a nuisance, but I don't know what other vendor does this. I've lost things NI can't host at all and they hook me up for nothing.

Post

Tbh, i can' think of another company who does this too now, thinking about it, so i guess i'm half convinced anyway. :P If NI can do it with Komplete downloads, then it shouldn't be a problem for IKM also. Dunno.
