Made sample out of 3 synths. Imported into Falcon Sample oscillator. Applied alternate loop and cross fade. Played note and mid way through the sample my UR28M Steinberg sound card locked up and froze my DAW. Had to reboot computer.

This used to only happen with the stretch function. Now it seems the only sample based functions I can use are granular and multi granular. Anything else crashes my DAW.

Windows 7, 64 bit
Core 3 processor
16 gig RAM
Cubase 7.0.7

I haven't tried this in MuLab or Reaper yet but hesitant to because it gets tiresome having to reboot my PC every time this happens.

If somebody can look into this, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.
If you have a preset which reproduce this, please send it by P.M.

Thanks !
The problem is, I was not able to save the preset because when my DAW crashed I lost what I was working on. But it is very easy to reproduce. All you need is 1 layer with 1 keymap. Delete the analog osc that is the default and add a sample oscillator. Bring the sample into it (I still have the sample) and apply an alternate loop to the middle section of the sample about 2/3 the entire width of the sample from the middle out. Apply cross fade to the end of the sample. I can send you the sample itself if you like.

In fact, I will simply attach it to this post so you can download it.

Well for some reason the file won't attach. I don't know why.

otristan wrote: all good stuff.... so whats the relationship with UVI workstation and Falcon?
is it like Kontakt player to the full Kontakt i.e. if I create a library for Falcon (and its part of your 3rd party program) will it run on UVI workstation.
or does UVI workstation only have a subset of Falcons features, so a user needs Falcon to run these libraries?

(no problem either way, just interested how it works, and if to use my libs a user would need Falcon)
:
Depending on the feature you need, users might need to have Falcon to run those library.
Hence there could be Falcon only library.

Great that Dune 2 wavetable import works now too. Some are not working for some reasons but my favourite ones works fine. They sound not as good, clear and "smooth" (especially slow interpolations) like in Dune 2 but it´s a great addition to this already awesome sound design tool.
At least i will get my wavetable creator for Falcon when Dune 2 gets it´s own wavetable creator!
Thank´s for the update!

Edit: Here i have a question. When i change the phase distortion mode in the wavetable OSC the sound change, even when the amount is set to zero. What have i to do to turn it off completly? Is there always some kind of phase distortion going on??

Great sounds!
Yeah, I also feel that the wavetable could use a HQ setting where the steps when moving through them sound less "linearly interpolated". Right now, the steps are quite audible somehow in many wavetables.
Or maybe a different mode that is not sticking as exactly to the waveforms in the table but interpolating in a more smooth and musical fashion? In 3D-NURBS modelling terms I would try the "Loose" spline interpolation for the loft ... ;-)

Totally unrelated to wavetables: I started to write my first Lua scipt tonight and this system is bliss :tu:
Compared to the handling of Midi in Reaktor it's about 1000 times easier.
And being able to address each voice separately opens so much possibilities...
Expect some major midi mangling soon ;-)
Awesome work UVI!

Cheers,

Tom

Edit: Some of the Phase distortion modes have their neutral position at 50%/centered... :-)

I just checked the DUNE 2 wavetable (*.wt files) import too. The factory wavetable were mostly imported properly but some of the wavetables created an error message.

Those are: Legacy.wt, Quantized.wt, Transients.wt, Vintage Pulse.wt, Vintage Saw.wt

Later i will also check DUNE 2 wavetables that i had created myself. Good that Audio Term could export wavetables in the DUNE 2 format and also cool that now you could use the same format for both DUNE 2 and Falcon.

The *.WT wavetable files are also available from the built-in browser, not just from the Windws Explorer by drag & drop.
