Hi,
I saw some posts on here from earlier in the year showing Bidule VST inside Bitwig running Reason as Rewire slave.
Could anybody tell me how they got this to work>?
When i load Bidule as VST fx or instrument it doesn't offer me any of the Rewire devices that show up in Bidule standalone... So i'm a bit confused.

Sure, but xbitz has been recommending a Bitwig + Bidule + Reaper workflow, so it is possible. I second the OP's question of *how*.

have win10x64 using the 64bit versions of Bidule inside Bitwig and the 64 bit versions of Reaper/Reason etc. and it's just working in all the three plugin-host modes, http://www.energy-xt.com/index.php?id=0115 64 bit also working just it has only limited outs

That has nothing to do with my question. I know it doesn't offer Rewire hence looking for an alternative via Bidule which, as ceasless says, has been mentioned on here before by xbitz.LYTZ wrote:Bitwig does not offer Rewire at the moment.
Not as Master, nor as slave.
Best,
tL.
Question, is how. Yes. How did xbitz get it to work?

Hey thanks for getting in on this. What do you mean by 'using Bidule/Reaper/Reason inside Bitwig'?xbitz wrote:have win10x64 and using the 64bit versions of Bidule/Reaper/Reason etc. inside Bitwig and it's just working
When i use Bidule as a VST loaded in Bitwig i get no option to place a Rewire device inside the Bidule patcher... 64 bit here also, but Mac.
Are you loading the Bidule plugin into Bitwig, or is this using the Standalone?

Ah, sorry, misread the question. Can't help you though.

Works here with Windows 10 64bit and Bidule 64 Bit.
If you add the Bidule plugin and right-click on the window, what do you have under "ReWire Devices"? If there is nothing check if you have a file "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Propellerhead Software\ReWire\ReWire.dll".
All ReWire devices should be listed in the registry under HKLM\Software\Propellerhead Software\ReWire.

Hmm,
That's pretty weird. I am on a Mac so maybe it's different then. I get all the right Rewire devices showing up when using Bidule standalone, but in the VST there's not even a menu entry for Rewire devices like there usually is in the standalone program. Think i'll have to ask over at Plogue what the deal is...
Thanks for your help anyway.

Got some information from Bidule devs about ReWire in the VST version when running on OS X. Useful to anybody who is interested in running this same setup.
Apparently Live crashes on start-up if Bidule VST allows ReWire functionality when it is scanned by Live, so they disabled it on OS X to stop the issue. The AU version apparently still supports ReWire, but that's no use for Bidule anyway.
They mentioned the potential to add a hidden option to switch it back on for the VST, so hoping they sort that out for us Mac folks.
Thanks for all the responses. Seems you Windows lot have a distinct advantage at present!

You mean "it's no use for Bitwig anyway", right?endlessdog wrote:The AU version apparently still supports ReWire, but that's no use for Bidule anyway.

Oh whoops, yeah, no use for Bitwig. But... big news and a great example of how cool Bidule/Plogue is. One day after asking for the functionality and they've added it in a test version VST!
Check it out on the Plogue forum.
Just tested it. Works perfectly. Will need to stress it out later and throw some serious work at it, but now Mac and Windows are happily hand in hand again.

**edit((___!__disclaimer__!___))***
btw that version of the VST posted on Plogue forum is totally to be used at your own risk. It's not an official release and was just made to see if it could work. So bear that in mind if you choose to install it. It could cause shit to crash. So far it's been fine on my system but that's no guarantee. It could well cause your other VST hosting DAWs to crash (if you have any others obvs).
Also MAC ONLY.
But that should be obvious as Windows works already.

I didn't know this software. Thanks for sharing! Can you kindly put a exact forum link you discussed to here so I can find more detail? I want to try the Rewire between Bitwig and Logic X!

Logic X cannot connect in the same way to Bitwig, as Bitwig has no native Rewire support, and Logic can only act as a Rewire host.
The reason for using Bidule in Bitwig is to add the 'missing' Rewire host functionality that would allow you to use programs such as Reason 'inside' the Bitwig application. Bidule cannot act as a slave to a host when loaded as a VST, it can only provide host functions itself for further slave programs.
Basically the chain goes like this: Bitwig > Bidule VST > Rewire application of your choice (Reason, Reaper, Live, Renoise, etc)
It only supports connection to apps that can act as Rewire slaves.
Certain DAWs like Logic, Studio One, Cubase etc only provide 'host' abilities.
