This one totally went under my radar.

1.000 presets. Not bad. Not bad at all.

I'll have a go with the free version and see what that gives.

I picked up Atmosphere a couple of years ago second hand. I upgraded to Omnisphere but find I use Atmosphere more in its own right.
(Ran fine on 32bit XP).

Copy protection is "Online Activation (Challenge / Response)"

Does that still work?

Not sure if ti was Waves or some other developer - but in a case of the company canceling their buisness they would privde their registered customers an unlocked copy. Wonder how spectrsonics dealed with this discontinued plugin?

Post

nevermind, quite incorrect

Seeing that is over 7 years ago now, and that SpectraSonics then switched to Steam, I would think that the server for C/R is not up and running anymore.
That turns the deal into an ultimatum. Atmosphere was pretty expensive. If you chose to keep it as is it would have meant that you would be unable to re.install it in the future.

The idea that a developer can turn a license, you paid a lot for, worthless over a night - unless you eventually give them more money - isn't that pleasant.

STEAM is just the name of their sampled instrument engine, nothing to do with authorisation (or Valve).

Ooops

Based on this info, they still use C/R: https://www.spectrasonics.net/support/k ... egoryID=78

So, that means someone could still sell me Atmosphere?

This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

Authorised Atmosphere a couple of weeks ago after a fresh Windows install moving to 64bit. Atmosphere isn't 64bit but runs fine under jbridge.

I lamented the loss of Atmosphere when I moved passed XP. However I would suggest taking a look at Zebra2/Dark Zebra.

It's just that Omnisphere is a bit to big for my needs and budget. Besides I doubt it'll run on my 32-bit windows XP.

Any decent alternatives to Atmosphere apart from Omhisphere?
No.

And I feel you. Strangely the Atmosphere presets are my favorites in Omni 2...
Too bad I didn't know about it 10+ years when it first came out :(
So many good multis in there, from all kinds of synths and soundsources.

A great if not better collection of synthesis is Zero-G - Nostalgia.

My version runs within the N.I. Intakt player, but N.I. seems to have changed that. Those greedy bastards! Now you have to own the full Kontakt. :x
My Intakt is so much better for work flow and editing.

Anyway, if you can get a version with Intakt, go for it.
Nostalgia may be my fave go to for anything. You can easily construct anything you get in Atmosphere in Nostalgia. Each instance layer you load blends with all the others perfectly. You don`t need to edit much if at all.
If you want to customize the preset, no probs, you get everything you need in Intakt.
This reviews Nostalgia with the Kompakt sampler.Intakt is the player version.Read this;

'EastWest' had a lessor but a real good atmospheric Kompakt package called Vapor...no longer available.
