I actually deleted that post, the prices are changing in 2 hours. Toontrack doesn't allow any extra discounts and they haven't given me much room to discount, anyway.Fleer wrote:Prices not adjusted yet? And any extra JRR coupon?Uncle E wrote:Up to 84% off Toontrack:

The usual discount codes don't seem to work on the V3 professional upgrade from V1/V2Uncle E wrote:Yes, as do Crossgrades and Educational versions. We can still do the special price.nathanj wrote:Uncle E
Do Presonus S1 V3 upgrades bought through you come with the channel strip as well? If so are you still offering your special price? Cause that would be awesome.

Just a FYI my price came out to 21 euros/~$22 US from best service, looks as though they calculate tax into the 25 eur price but I guess since I live in Asia it doesn't apply and gets deducted from the final price.Fleer wrote:Prices not adjusted yet, Uncle E?Uncle E wrote:Up to 84% off Toontrack:

Yes, I think it might also be that the demos all sound like movie trailers, which is the point I guess. However since writing the above I did find one demo that showcased individual sounds in Aeon Melodic outside of a mix that did not sound quite so dressed up.Uncle E wrote:I have a few of their original libraries and would describe them as mix ready, in that all the processing, including compression, is done for you. Maybe this is the sheen you're talking about?Gribs wrote:I just spent about two hours listening to the Heavyocity instrument examples on soundcloud and watching many of their tutorial videos (Aeon collections and DM-307 in particular). I have watched/listened before, including last year during holiday sale time, and my impressions are the same. They look like incredibly well-designed and tweakable instruments but the sounds I am hearing all have an odd sheen to them that I just can't place and they do not sound like I would want to use them. I guess that they just aren't for me even though they are just gorgeous-looking and the techno-nerd in me wants to have them in a big way.
Edit: I think that it might be a combination of digital distortion and reverb tails. I am an EE but not audio, mix, or mastering engineer. I prefer older school recordings where there is plenty of room between instruments (not sur how to describe it). I have always been into jazz, fusion, prog, and prog/symphonic metal and only really got into electronic music a decade or so ago. I hear quite a bit of muddiness and overlap on modern mixes in the symphonic and progressive metal genres and can hear the progression to muddiness in successive releases by some bands I have followed (e.g. Kamelot, Symphony X, and even - love 'em or hate'em - Rush).

So Toontrack is trying to force existing EZDrummer users to upgrade to EZD2 before years' end due to discontinuation of the EZDrummer upgrade, but then doesn't put the upgrade on a Black Friday sale? Great job, guys. I own EZD and SD2, but think I will be migrating at this point.
Tangled roots perplex her ways.

AEON Melodic is my all-time favorite Kontakt library. I use it all the time, often for 'background' parts or as layers in stacked parts. I was really hoping that Gravity was gonna be "AEON II" but that turned out not to be the case. Really hope Heavyocity does another wide-ranging, heavily layered library like AEON again... those are the kinds of patches I'm not likely to design myself.Gribs wrote:I just spent about two hours listening to the Heavyocity instrument examples on soundcloud and watching many of their tutorial videos (Aeon collections and DM-307 in particular). But like you said, if the sound demos you heard don't appeal to you, it probably just doesn't sync up with your taste or what you normally look for in sample libraries.
