Acid Pro to Tracktion

Since sony is taking forever to put out the next version of Acid, I've been looking at options for new hosts... Tracktion looks great and I've been trying out the demo but there are some problems:
When you click on a note with the pencil it plays and won't stop.
Notes at the very begging don't always play.
Also, to those of you that use Tracktion, how is it? I use Acid now but I don't use loops very much, I mainly record everything and use midi for drums or the occasional synth part. Would Tracktion be a good buy?

i crossed over from acidpro at the start of this year
and i use loops all the time
the only thing that i miss from acid is the loop painting capability
but this would be the same in any other host
personally i would have to say just do it
it doesnt matter what the new acid does
the workflow in tracktion is blindingly quick and once you master it you wont want to touch acid again
the missing notes thing
yeah jules is constantly sorting this
and everytime he does it gets a little better so it shouldnt be there much longer
the sticking note thing im not sure
if you do it with the sampler it plays till the end of the sample
can you give more info
cheers

Most people who like Tracktion (myself included) like it because it works just the way they excpect things to work. It's like just feels natural. This is why I don't mind some missing features, or the occasional bug.
I find Tracktion to extremly stable (some people here have different experience). I adore the way it handles audio, and think it's amazing for arranging. Its MIDI editing is less than ideal, and takes somegetting used to. It is not as bad as it first seems. I use Tracktion alongside EnergyXT, and they complete each other in many ways.
Download the demo, read some tutorials - especially about rack filters. And if it is the right app for you, you'll just know.

what synth are you using that gets stuck notes? vsti? hardware? which? If all synths have stuck notes, there is a big problem. I sometimes get stuck notes using Reason rewired to Tracktion, but usually only when doing retakes of midi recording.

Ok, I've been playing around w/ it some more and I'm probably going to buy it, but this stuck notes thing is annoying.... it doesn't happen during playback, just editing. I had problems w/ stuck notes on acid but i think thats just acid. Anyone else have these problems?

Yep, I get it too. Usually I ditch the pencil tool, click on the arrow selction tool and click anywhere away from the stuck note to stop it. A bit annoying, but as others have said above, its a small price to put up with minor gripes in order to use an application that is basically so brilliant in so many ways.jtxx000 wrote:Ok, I've been playing around w/ it some more and I'm probably going to buy it, but this stuck notes thing is annoying.... it doesn't happen during playback, just editing. Regarding the mda synths, you'll be wanting to bring in other VSTi instruments (FreeAlpha, Synth 1, Triangle II, Polyiblit, Crystal are all free downloads, and a good place to start if you don't already have stuff).
Floyd - strange you get this problem with Reason. Tracktion + Reason is my main combo, too, and I don't get that problem. I think they make a truly awesome pair and make up for each other's limitations perfectly. Rewire was invented for this!

Ok, since I'm not the only one with the problem I guess it will be fixed in a future update... thanks.headquest wrote:Yep, I get it too. One more thing, I made a drum loop that uses the sampler, and some of the notes don't get played... it starts out fine but I copied and pasted the loop lots of times and after a while it starts to randomly not play notes... Is there a way to fix it?
