I think its all down to when you activate it, if within the grace period, its free.
It should appear in the eLicense Control Centre.

which... leads me to ask similarly, Im in the grace period, but Cubase 8.5 has not turned up in my the eCC yet (I've hit maintenance as grace period info says)... does this usually take a while to propagate after the announcement has been made? has anyone else had 8.5 appear in eCC yet?

Guess I have to wait later on in the day or week.

Yes, the date of the activation on the eLicenser is important, not the purchase date.

And yes, it might take a little while depending on how fast Steinberg will set up everything in-house.

Just out of curiosity: Did you register your eLicenser for your MySteinberg account? I think that is a mandatory step for the grace period update to work properly.

Mine are different logins for . Net and . Shop , could that be the case.

yes, my eLicenser is registered, and everything shown on the steinberg website.

I kind of assumed it might take them a short while... actually id hadn't noticed they only announced 30 mins ago... so I'm sure might take them a few hours yet :)

Your My Steinberg login is different than the shop username and password (have at it compyfox, heh).

And I just also snagged the Absolute 2 upgrade.

Would have loved to have it on sale, but I need to get a project done this week...and I really want to use the Grand 3 in it.

The heck is that supposed to mean?

If you want to upgrade, that's your thing. But I'm slowly growing tired of the constant side-blows below the waistline by certain individuals.

I'm not your punching ball/laughing stock/reason to blame everything on. Make up your own minds, people. And respect others opinions for once. :tu:

What it means is that this is one more feather for your cap...no side blow intended. Take the block off of your shoulder and have a good time. I have never had a confrontation here and never will.

I like this forum and the people, for better or for worse within...I keep the peace.

It was merely offering you "food for fodder". This is your play pin. HAVE FUN WITH IT!!! I enjoy your comments and have learned a lot of things I never even knew to attempt to TRY in Cubase just by reading your posts.

So again...have at it, and have fun at it while your are at it... :hyper:

Forget the fighting guys. This crappy subscription update sucks. I've lost it for this outdated DAW. It's clear to me that Steinberg is all about marketing hype, and no real progress or substance. I'm thoroughly disgusted with this. I'm done at 7.5. Not throwing any more money into the Steinberg trough. My bets are on Studio One and Bitwig for the future.

Yes constant paid upgrades start to wear on you if bugs just don't get addressed.

I'd use studio one but try recording midi drums from an e kit and then doing editing afterwards. It blows compared to Cubase. For me Studio One would get use if they had a good midi drum editor but right now it just doesn't.

if you are on OSX don't expect stability , S1V3 is a real nightmare...

Not personally crazy about these paid step upgrades, but two things will have me shell out this time:

1. The Retrologue 2 upgrade costs $49. The 8.5 upgrade includes Retrologue 2 and costs $49. Done.

2. The one truly useful upgrade feature for me is the CTRL disabling of the MIDI snap feature. I know there's a lot of good useful stuff in there, but this one feature really makes my day. What can I say? I'm a simple guy. Very. Simple.
