Questions about T6 (demo)

I'm very interested in Tracktion 6, and after trying the demo I have a few reports and questions. I couldn't find an official support e-mail address, so I'll leave this here.
- Depending on zoom level or scroll position (try scrolling far enough to the left), there's a strange space before bar 1 on the timeline. At first it appears to be part of the track header, yet clicking inside it positions the play cursor on the timeline (resetting to 1.0.0). Please see the image below.
- Tracktion 6.2.3 cannot open plugins by New Sonic Arts (Granite and Nuance). They work fine in other hosts on the same system; Windows 8.1, everything is 64-bit.
- I couldn't find a way to create ghost/phantom/shared clips. You know, changes to one clip reflected in all other linked copies. Is this not possible in Tracktion, and is it at least under consideration?
- Is there a way to tell at a glance whether anything is automated on a track if not using dedicated automation lanes? Besides checking the context menu for any active parameters, I mean.
- There seems to be an extra step involved in order to get the context menu for inserting new clips to appear (dragging a button to the timeline). Is there a reason you can't just right-click on the timeline to open said context menu? Also, is there a way to adjust the default length for new clips?
- Some UI elements' colors can currently not be customized. Level meters, send level sliders, dialogs, context menus, among others. Also, only some text colors can be customized, while others automatically switch between black/white depending on the parent element's background color. Yet other text labels, however, are a fixed color and thus limit the customization ability. Any plans or chance of an update to the color customization?
The following are perhaps nitpicks, but it can't hurt to mention them:
- On Windows (the OS), the close button for plugin windows is on the left side only.
- Modal dialogs are in front of other programs even when Tracktion does not have focus.
- The resize handle for the "left pane" (browser) is visible and can be used even when the pane itself is hidden.
- The "Run script" button is really a menu, shouldn't it have the arrow icon? Love the scripting ability, by the way.
Thank you for your time.

Let me try and answer some of these for you...

I've noticed that - looks like a bug related to zooming and only tends to be obvious on shorter tracks. You can left click on the timeline and drag it to resize that border.d191f wrote:Depending on zoom level or scroll position (try scrolling far enough to the left), there's a strange space before bar 1 on the timeline.
Granite x64 seems to be working in the 6.2.4 beta (Win 8.1 x64) - didn't try Nuance.d191f wrote:Tracktion 6.2.3 cannot open plugins by New Sonic Arts (Granite and Nuance). They work fine in other hosts on the same system; Windows 8.1, everything is 64-bit.
It's not documented anywhere (and I haven't tried using them yet) but there's a 'Ghost Tracks' selector in the Track properties (just above the colour swatches). *Edit* as Frank points out below, this is just a display thing.d191f wrote:I couldn't find a way to create ghost/phantom/shared clips. No - the only visible cue is the drop-down if you're using dedicated automation tracks.d191f wrote:Is there a way to tell at a glance whether anything is automated on a track if not using dedicated automation lanes? Besides checking the context menu for any active parameters, I mean.
Try right-clicking on the track headers. Not sure about changing the default lengths - I don't think so.d191f wrote:There seems to be an extra step involved in order to get the context menu for inserting new clips to appear (dragging a button to the timeline). TSC would have to answer that - hopefullyd191f wrote:Some UI elements' colors can currently not be customized. Level meters, send level sliders, dialogs, context menus, among others. Something entirely different. Ghost clips have been requested since T1.AegisPrime wrote:there's a 'Ghost Tracks' selectord191f wrote:Ghost/phantom/shared clips. You know, changes to one clip reflected in all other linked copies.

Yes there is, all you have to do is set your in and out markers in your edit. Drag and drop your new clip between the marker the clip will be the length of your markers.

Check out sneak peak of the new 'ghost/clone' clip tool in T7 - still discussing a suitable name as there is no master/slave structure to the feature, so both the phrases ghost or clone don't exactly describe it - but they are typical terms for this capability. It works for all types of clips too, of course. How about 'clip link'?
