Waves can't do anything if you have to old PC/Mac's :p
Actually Element 1 is on Macbook Pro absolute not an CPU Killer
No Patch over 15% CPU (Ableton CPU Display)

My Element is out of WUP (and WUP is out of my element - ha).
Do I need to get it wupped before the Element 2 release?
They want about $24 just to wup element.
I have about 30 singles and a couple of the smallest bundles (musicians 2 and dorrough surround).
About two thirds are out of wup, and I'm well up against that $300 cap to wup all or even just the ones that are out (one of my rationalizations for buying so many cheap singles, as new ones won't ultimately cost me any more wup).
Thanks!

I believe If your WUP is up to date it will be a free upgrade to Element 2.

Yep. Oh well, it's the price we pay. I bought this recently, they just say "it eats CPU, get over it"fluffy_little_something wrote:With 0df filters I suppose that advantage of Element will be goneincubus wrote:I loved and own the original element (though I'm all reason now)
Just how it's as CPU efficient as the original, the other synth they made sounded fab but was WAY too hungry.

Yeah.. or you can just run it as Element 1, and switch to 2 for high-quality rendering

v1 was light even on my AMD CPU.
But I didn't really like the v1 sound character as a whole. So if they only improved the sound quality (which is likely when they enable switching between the engines, i.e. using existing v1 patches), I suppose I will still not like it much better than before.

Waves Element 2.0 was released yesterday:
http://www.waves.com/plugins/element?gc ... GwodyMYNvA
Introduction price for new Element users is 71$. For owners of Element v1 that have a valid WUP the upgrade to Element v2 is free.
Quote from the newsletter:
In the plugin you could switch between both versions when clicking on either the "2" or "1" at the right of the "ELEMENT" logo in the upper left of the GUI. No restart of the plugin needed for this. This also works for the new Element 2 patches and you could easiily check the sound differences between both plugins. Those differences seem to be morethan just subtile, actually the differences could be quite big depending on the patch used.
The Element 1 and Element 2 presets are marked with "E1" or "E2" at the beginning of the category folders of the presets. All those seem to work in both versions while could sound quite different when switching between the versions.
CPU use could be high, depending on the patch up to 2 or even 3 times of that from Element v1. Again you could directly compare this when switching the plugin at the GUI. I found a few pad sounds that could lead to drop-outs at my old Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU (also got one with a newer Intel I5 but that is not fully installed yet).
Due to higher quuality oscillators, a zero delay feedback filter and updated effects algoritms a higher CPU use seems to be usual but i wished izt would be slightly less than it is at the moment. Hopefully this could be improved in the future and/or a lower quality mode added.
Also the fact that the Unison could be switched between off, 2 voice and 4 voice could have a big impact when using it at 4 voices (In v1 only 2 voices seemed to be possible).

I already got the free upgrade by using the "update to latest version" feature at the "My Products" Element entry in my Waves account. This added a new Element 2.0 license to the Waves Cloud that replaces the old license for Element v1. Of course you would also have to get the new installer and install the updated plugin (and deinstall the old one first).Element 2.0 is available separately or as part of the Dave Audé EMP Toolbox and the Mercury plugin bundle. If you have current Waves Update Plan coverage. and you already own the earlier version of Element, either separately or in one of these bundles, you may update to Element 2.0 free of charge.

I have updated it for free from version 1
All I can say is "WOW!! World of WOW!"
Seriously the sound is from the best I have heard. It gives the option to switch between version 1 and 2 on the fly!, which I thought only the skin, but no! It switches the engines also! There is a big difference in the sound between the two (I prefer E2 of course!) Elements 2 IMO is a BIG winner. The cpu usage is fine with i5/win10/Studio one in average 20-30%, so it is great.
I canceled the idea of saving for hardware synths (analog or not!). Having synths like Elements 2, Dune 2, Bazille ..etc has stopped me even from using Blofeld that much!! (but I like it as a keyboard controller, so I'm keeping it
) What I was saying? oh yes, Elements 2 is amazing. I would buy it for the discounted price now if I don't already have the first version.
Thanks Waves for the free update
You made me bought another great product of yours (PuigTec EQ)

As someone with an expired WUP, I logged n to check to see how much i would have to 'WUP' it in order to update.
$10 USD!! That's right folks, you read correctly!!
If any other developer were to release an upgrade you'd be paying that $71 USD they are asking for now, or maybe a bit less. But that's the power of WUP, my upgrade to the next major version only cost me $10!!
I seriously better not hear any anti-Waves/anti-WUP users bitching about that!! Seriously folks.
How I want about it, is I logged into to Waves and clicked on Get Waves Update Plan, or you can click on the link in the bottom of the email.
From there I selected the top option... "I hereby confirm that I run all products on one machine at a time. " Thats important, that's what will save you heaps of dollars.
That tends to clear the selections where I just selected Element. Then I went ahead and paid $10 for it.
I don't know if the next step is important, but I'm fairly sure it is...
I then clicked on Get Latest Version within out account options.
There Element was listed amongst a couple of other plugins I didn't realise I could update. I selected them all and submitted.
It then gave me the green light to download the new version.
Done.
