Howdy,

While we're all anxiously waiting for V9 (just me?) I wanted to throw out a request for modulators to be added to more plugins. Not all the melda plugins have modulators, I'd like to see this changed to cover more if possible, here's some that dont that I've personally found would benefit from adding them:

MMultibandLimiter
MSpectralDynamics
MMultibandDynamics
Okay... so I guess all the dynamics based ones now I look at it!
MWobbler - personally i prefer the modulators in other Melda plugins than the way it is handled in MWobbler, you get more control!
MDynamicEQ - I dont like using MAutoDynamicEQ as I dont have a need for the EQ matching so it takes up space

The reason why adding modulators on dynamic processors makes sense is because I tend to use the envelope follower a lot (rather than LFOs) and that opens up a lot of creative possibilities in dynamics. I find MultibandLimiter to be an amazing distortion, with envelope following it could become really interesting. You could also do things like sympathetic limiting; where as the bass gets louder you could limit the high frequencies more, I believe this is how the Waves L316 works, although that's 16 band I believe.

Anyway, just a thought!

Thanks :)

Hey ;).

Actually I was thinking the same thing some time ago, so, well, it's there :D.
But:

MWobbler - what do you mean? The modulators are exactly the same as everywhere else.
MDynamicEq - nope, sorry, that's for MAutoDynamicEq.

I'm not at the studio right now, but aren't the modulators in MWobbler handled by the 'range' controls rather than the standard modulator panels that the other plugins have? The modulator panel has a LOT more control than the range slider setup, I really like the filters in mwobbler but it can be tough to get the most out of it. Maybe I am mistaken though and it is more similar than I thought.

I understand you need to separate the features of the EQ, I have both so no problem for me!

Thanks for listening and good luck with v9!

Thanks!

About MWobbler - not sure what you mean. But maybe you missed one thing - MWobbler itself has one main LFO (just LFO) and follower, which drives the filter. BUT it also has modulators! The thing is, modulators are like the most hardcore versatile thing, but it takes more CPU than the internal LFO/follower and is less accurate (unless you increase modulator protection in Settings/Settings, which makes it take even more CPU). The 9.00 adds a huge performance improvement to this, but it will still take more.

Since other filters just use a simple LFO, it's there as well. But the mods are there if you want to be super creative :).

Ah, my bad, sorry. I wrote this message away from my studio, should have checked first! Looking forward to trying stuff out with it in mwobbler.

Anyway, the dynamics plugins would be great to have modulators added if you can.

No updates on v9 yet?

Thanks again!

A beta candidate is being compiled right now ;).

Hi Vojtech

I bought the MFreeEffectsBundle in the recent Black Friday sale and while impressed with the bang for buck and the powerful range of features I also found the inclusion of the modulators seemed a bit random (which is why I found this post!)

For example, MPhaser, MFlanger and MRingModulator are all good candidates for modulation. In fact a quick test with a MIDI triggered ADSR was possible indirectly using MRatio for the modulator (seemed to have the lowest CPU hit) and parameter linking in Reaper to the LFO override in MFlanger and it gave interesting sonic results. But of course it would be more convenient if it was included directly :)

So if you are able to add one or two modulators to more of the MFreeEffectsBundle (for example as part of the paid version upgrade) that would be great!

P.S Good job on your SoundBytes interview .. it was an enjoyable read :tu:

Cheers,

provoc

Hi Provoc,

I'm afraid the reason the modulators are not there are plain marketing usually - e.g. MPhaser has the extended version MMultiBandPhase, which has everything.

Fair enough, makes sense. Thanks for the quick reply!
