I own and use most MP tools but every time there is an update, AU won't validate or will Fail a majority of them. I've been in touch w/V in the past about this but there has never been a resolution.
Does anyone have any workarounds?

Logic 9.1.8
OSX 10.6.8

thanks

Have you tried totally deleting your AU-chache and then revalidating all plugs from scratch. That often helped me in the past with issues like that.

Yep. That's actually how this happened again tonight. I'm usually able to 'trick' AUVALTool and some updates are worse for this than others. It's not ever been this stubborn but I'm on this a few hours and no luck. Still Failing on 3 purchased plugs with one in some very important sessions.

thanks

That sucks, I can only say that I have no validation issues on Yosemite with Logic 10.2 whatsoever, but that doesn't help you at all.

Hey Simon-just realized it was you.
This has been an ongoing thing for MP plugs as long as I can remember. We ( V & I) were never able to find any kind of pattern. In fact, sometimes I'd open Logic after a few tries and the ones in question would magically validate.
For some reason, tonight, there are 3 stubborn ones and 2 of which still show up as the wrong version in AU manager (trying to validate 9.12 or 9.14 but 2 plugs are saying there are 9.7).
I'm taking your advice but deleting the AU Melda .components first and try one more trashing of the AU cache file

That sounds weird indeed, the AU-cache trashing must do the trick, if not I would have no idea at all what to do about this accept for updating your OS which is probably not an option at all.

I'd check if you have really selected all of them when installing next time. The thing is, AU contains a really stupid check for the version match, if you update the plugins, everything gets updated, because the kernel does. BUT if you do NOT actually update the plugins themselves, then the plugin itself will have a different version than the kernel. This whole AU structure is idiotic, but we have to live with it... I'd also recommend restarting before you use the plugins. It helps a lot.

thanks, V! Thanks for such a good tip and you caught me just as I'm re-installing. I'll try everything and deleting the ones I don't use.
I'll follow up in a few either way

Post

Well, I installed the entire 9.14 and got EVERYTHING to pass (with a lot of coaxing) except MMultiAnalyser-which I'd really like to get back as I use it alot.
I will point out that it isn't only MP tools that have this problem but they are more stubborn than others for some reason. Is there any other way to 'trick out logic' in helping it to pass? It's only Crashing not Failing,,,

Post

I quite often find that if a particular plugin crashes or fails validation when scanned in, if I then open the plugin manager and select that plugin and rescan just that plugin it passes the second time round when run singly. Also don't forget that even if plugin does fail that doesn't necessarily mean it won't run in Logic and you can still select that it will show (it just goes in an unvalidated list)

Post

True. Anyway if it just doesn't validate, please send me the log (or crash log) to info@meldaproduction.com, it's usually pretty obvious what went wrong. I'd also recommend updating OSX.

I'll send the report. Thanks, V. At this point, it just isn't realistic to upgrade. My system is working and stable. The OSX updates ran too fast for me and it's hard enough to stay creative and working even under the best of circumstances.

...same thing here...and it's only occasionally...and not necessarily the same plug... .../s~
