Well, I am not one of those U-he fans, so I simply say when I think something is bad. Someone's gotta do it and since I am already quite unpopular on KVR, I couldn't care less about my popularity...

It is not about the way I like it, but about common design guidelines regarding contrast, colors, etc.

I also think Diva's GUI is pretty bad, frankly. Again, labels being the biggest issue...

It's not about being a 'fan'... just that what you like/find effective is not necessarily what others do.

Diva is clear, controls are intelligently organized, attractive, not too busy and I can read the labels fine. It could stand to have the label font be a tad bigger, but like I said, I can read them fine as is. A well crafted GUI I would say. Calling it pretty bad is just trolling.

Hive, I really like the general layout, but I wish there were less 'spaceship' graphics and it was a bit more plain and concise. There is enough 'wasted' space that all mod slots could be visible at once if it were nudged a bit. Still, everything is easy to read and work with, controls are well laid out, easy to grasp at a glance. Also an overall well crafted GUI.

A good thing about HIVE is that it has many settings for GUI size, so users can select the size most suitable for their screen.

That's the problem. It is already huge at 100%. If I increase it to 120 or so, I no longer see my DAW Nor does contrast become better with size.

The contrast in Hive is good on my monitor... maybe you have a monitor problem?

We had total of about 40 license transfers for Hive since it came out. That's less than 1/100th of its user base. If anything, it's an indicator that people are very happy with it.

I was one of those 40 people. If I hadn't have desperate need for the cash I'd have never sold it. It's a great synthesizer.
After Diva, which I also had to set free for the coin, it's first on my list of purchases come the new year.
I can't wait for the cheques to come in.

I like Diva's upper half, the dark panel, but the lower half is worse in my view. Controls look all the same, so one needs to read the labels repeatedly.
A good GUI in my view is Xils' Mini SynX.

Mini SynX also has wasted space... and Hive manages to put both layers in one window and you have to tab between them in Mini SynX - that does not mean I am calling it a bad GUI... plenty of good GUI's can use a little improvement.

So I do think you have a negative opinion that is based on bias, not clearly articulated points.

Doesn't look different to me... Diva has knobs, sliders, switches and buttons too. The bottom pane has buttons, knobs and menus and the controls are arranged in a graphic way as well... The only place that I would say has some visual vagueness is the right side... the delay. It is 10 knobs that are not particularly differentiated from each other visually (I'm nitpicking here)... the rest, the LFO's, Tuning, Voices and Arp modules are all easy to see and understand.

Mini SynX on the filter, it has 5 knobs the same size so cutoff is not immediately obvious... neither is resonance. Might be nice to have the cutoff and resonance knobs bigger so they are more immediately obvious. Also, the grouping seems a bit odd and unintuitive to me. Of course if you use it a bit you will quickly know what is what. Which is the same with Diva... The bottom panel does not seem even a tiny bit confusing to me.
