Patches stick or wont save new patches in Ableton 9.5 Sylenth v 2.21

I'm using Ableton Live 9.5 (same thing happened in 9) Win 64-bit. After I set a track with Sylenth and then go back to change to a different Sylenth patch, it reverts back to the original patch.

I've tried a few work-arounds which I found on the web such as changing the Program in the Notes section of the Ableton Track controls but it works inconsistently and makes me think I am either doing something wrong or there is a problem. Any help would be appreciated as I am spending a lot of time dealing with this issue and its taking away from actually making music.

Make sure the Pgm, Bank and Sub fields in your midi clip are all set to None! Having a value set will instruct Sylenth1 to jump to that preset.
