More than a year since he passed, and still no OSC.psmacmur wrote:Have you tried any of the HGFortune synths?
All but a handful of his earliest instruments were re-compiled with the multi-core friendly version of SE, and I've not heard of anyone having much problem bridging them.
But it's important to bear in mind that nearly all of his iconic synths and 'magic machines' depend for their sound generation on his specially-developed 'pcm oscillators' - normally distributed as soundfonts (until they appeared on just one too many a pirate site): ie, samples. Even the relatively conventional 'VA' Alphatron has a 'wave' oscillator.
The only ones that come to mind as being OSC-friendly would be the early Fortune Cookie from 2005 (recompiled in 2012) and the wonderful Altair 4 - closer in spirit (though little else) with the VCS3 than most of the actual Synthi clones, it would certainly make for an interesting OSC!
Crisalys is a beast, and Nero and Latte are both of the 'simple' type that some people are asking for. Not absolutely sure about Crisalys, but the other two were built after the multi-core/multi-instance issues with SE were sorted.
Unfortunately, they use quite a few third-party modules - so the chances of their being re-compiled for Mac or 64-bit are pretty remote.
But the extra attention an OSC brings ought to generate a few additional donations for the dev - which I get the impression he might particularly welcome right now.
