Looking at VIP2 upgrade: SSD, Komplete 8 questions

I'm seriously considering the Pro Max to VIP2+SSD upgrade path.

For those who have an SSD model, are boot times, ambient noise, and overall performance as improved as you'd expect?

Also, anything to watch out for with the Komplete 8 self-install? From the knowledge base article, it seems pretty straightforward.
